Page 8 - Mount Joy Bulletin December 4, 1974 Pick Mount Joy Man EMC College Trustee A Mount Joy man has been named as one of two Lancaster county members of the Board of Trustees of Eastern Mennonite college, Harrisonburg, Va. He is J. Elvin Kraybill, Mount Joy R2, elected to a four-year term on EMC's governing board as representatives of the Lancaster Conference of the Mennonite Church. Kraybill, one of the youngest members ever elected to the EMC trustees, is an attorney with the Wenger & Byler law firm of Lancaster. A 1966 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite high school, he received the BA degree from EMC and earned his law degree from Georgetown university in Washington. He is secretary of the Mount Joy Township Authority and a member of the Pennsylvania and Lancaster bar associations. He and his wife, the former Esther Graber of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, are active in Lancaster’s ‘‘Volunteers in Probation and Parole’ program. The other Lancaster c¢ountian is John H. Hess of New Holland. Ray Byle Honored Saturday Night With Surprise Party on Birthday Ray Byle, east Main Street, was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party given by his wife Saturday evening, Nov. 30, at Hostetters. The occasion was his 80th birthday. Approximately 30 mem- bers of the family and friends were present for the dinner and the time of fellowship following. Included were all of Mr. Byle’s sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Highlights of the evening were the presentation to the guest of honor of a personal note of congratulations from President Gerald R. Ford, from the great- grandchildren; and a gold watch and chain from the: grandchildren. The card from President Ford said: “Mrs Ford and I send our warmest congratulations on a very special occasion, your 80th birthday. We wish you every happiness.” And it was signed, ‘‘Gerald R. Ford.” Mr. Byle also received other nice gifts. It was the first family reunion in 30 years. To be held in the Donegal high school library, the meeting will be the official public meeting of the board for the month of December. It is scheduled for 8 p.m. President of the board is J. Edw.
