Mrs. Helen Hostetter, Palmerton, has been visiting in town since her sister has been hospitalized. The Rev. Paul Youse, pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church, Lan- caster, was the guest minister at St. John's Lutheran Church on Sunday. Farm Women No. 8 Hear About Four Bible Women Thirty members and four visitors of Farm Women Society No. 8 met at the home of Mrs. Helen Wivell, Columbia R1, Saturday, April 20. Miss Anna Mae Eby presided. Mrs. Charles Shank, at the piano, played ‘The Lord’s Prayer,” as a tribute to Mrs. Marie Stoner, a member who passed away several days earlier. Miss Ruth Eby led devotions and read a memorial in honor of Mrs. Stoner who was a faithful, active member for many years. The minutes were read by Miss Mary Grace Martin. The treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Sylvester Shuman. Mrs. Harold Frey, on the Sunshine committee, reported having received a thank you for remembrance while ill, from Mrs. Richard Warfel. Mrs. Anna Chapman is in the Columbia Hospital, Room 101, having had cataracts removed from both eyes. Mrs. Ada Greider is in the Lancaster General Hospital. A special surprise fruitbasket gift was presented to Mrs. Clinton Eby. She and her husband celebrated their 50th wed- ding anniversary a week ago. On Monday, June 17th, members will go by bus to Gettysburg. They will leave St. Marks Church at 8:30 a.m. and return the same day. Mrs. Margie Heisey, special speaker, gave a detailed account of four women of the Bible. Mrs. Helen Wivell, Mrs. Lewis Bixler and Mrs. Dorothy Sumpman served refreshments. The next meeting will be held May 18 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Harold Ney, Marietta R1. The program will be Macrame. The Spring Rally will be held on May 8th at York, Pa. Community Chorus Issues Invitation An invitation to join the Mount Joy Community Chorus was issued this week. Dorothy Schock is director. The chorus, which presently has 16 members, makes several appearances each year. Rehearsals are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran church.
