Donegal Church Gives Surprise Farewell For Rev. Moyer The Rev. Herbert E. Moyer, retiring supply pastor of Donegal Presbyterian church, and Mrs. Moyer were honored Sunday by the congregation with a surprise farewell dinner at the church. The roast pig and sauerkraut dinner marked the end of four years of leadership. This month the Rev. Robert Clinton Murphy of Coraopolis, Pa., will assume the pastorate of Donegal church. Rev. Moyer previously had retired in 1961 from the pulpit of a Long Island Church. Long, 83, of 307 Marietta Ave., died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the home of his son, Lester Long, after a lengthy illness. Long was formerly employed at New Cumberland Ordnance Depot. Born in Fulton County, he was a son of the late Jacob and Sadie Cooper Long. In addition to his widow, Mabel Presbyterian Church. He and his wife were presented with a check to pay for a trip to Donegal, Ireland, for the ter- centenary of the Donegal Presbyterian Church in 1974. The Rev. Sload, 80, of 135 N. Cedar St., Lititz, formerly of Mount Joy, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Lancaster General hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He had been in ill health for the last few years. Born in Maytown, he was a son of the late Warren and Sarah Roath Sload. PAUL LINDWOOD RETTEW Paul Linwood Rettew Sr., 64, husband of Gladys Naylor Ret- tew, 108 N. Gay St., Marietta, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the St. Joseph Hospital after a two-week illness. Born in Marietta, where he was a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late George and Carrie Kauffman Rettew. Employed by the Wyeth Laboratories for 49 years, he was a supervisor. He was a member of United Church of Christ, Marietta. He also belonged to Ashare Lodge No. 358, F&AM, Marietta, In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Janet C., wife of Marlin G. McMillen, Marietta; a son, Paul Jr., Marietta; a half-brother, Joseph, Marietta; and four grand- children. ALBERT RAPP Albert (Gordie) Rapp, 80, of 6 Hazel Ave., Marietta, died Saturday, Nov 3, at St. Joseph hospital after an illness of one year. He was a retired employee of Donegal Steel Foundry in Marietta. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Marietta. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late William and Mahala Gordon Rapp. He is survived by a son, William A. Rapp, a daughter Margaret, wife of Earl Gorman, with whom he resided, six grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. RUTH P. MEYERS Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth P. Meyers, 48, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, were held Wednesday, Oct. 24, from the Nissley funeral home. Burial was made in the Mount Joy cemetery. Wife of Nelson S. Meyers, 116 E.
