She was the wife of Wilmer A. Johnson. A resident of Mount Joy for the past 25 years, she was a member of Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy. Born in Doylestown, she was a daughter of the late John and Annie Hockenberry Doyle. Besides her husband, at home, she is survived by nine children: Lewis Johnson, Chambersburg; Larue, wife of Donald Gift, Fayettsville; Mary, wife of Martin Rosenberry, Upper Stroudsburg; Kathleen, wife of Paul Zuch, Elizabethtown; Lillie, wife of Omar Armstrong, Shippensburg; Leah, wife of James Willhid, Palmyra; Virginia, wife of Russell Gingrich, Hershey; Charles Preston Johnson, Mount Joy, and Leon, at home; 29 grandchildren and 40 great-grand-children. She also is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Olive Monn, Waynesboro; Ethel, wife of Jacob Goshorn, and Eva, wife of Carson Goshorn, both of Spring Run; Olia, wife of John Patterson, Newville; Archie Doyle, Shippensburg, and Emory Clugston, Elizabethtown.. Services were held Saturday afternoon from the Crossroads Brethren in Christ church and burial was made in Grandview Memorial cemetery, Lebanon. RICHARD E. DETZ Richard E. Detz, 57, of 975 W. Main St., died at General Hospital Saturday, Aug, 11. He had been under the care of a physician for a heart ailment. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Vernon and Anna Mae Huitt Detz. He was retired from Civil Service, formerly employed at New Cumberland Army Depot. He is survived by his widow, Eva Clark Detz; two stepsons, Brian Ackerly, Mount Joy, and Robert Ackerly, Marietta; four brothers, John Detz, Ernest Detz and Harold Detz all of Marietta, and Gerald Detz, Millersville; and two sisters, Mary Detz and Mrs. Janet Bowers, both of Marietta. Services were held Wednesday morning from St. Luke’s Epis- copal church and burial was made in Laurel Hill cemetery, Columbia. BETTY LOUISE DOYLE Mrs. Betty Louise Doyle, 37, of Mount Joy R1, died Sunday, Aug. 12, at St. Joseph Hosptial from complications after brain surgery, Friday. She was born in Elizabethtown, a daughter of Omar and Elsie Geib Hostetter, of Elizabethtown. She was married to Charles Doyle. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Elizabethtown Chapter 701. Services were held from the Sheetz ‘funeral home Tuesday morning and burial was made in the Chiques Church of the Brethren cemetery. B. ROY BENDER Funeral services for B. Roy Bender, 79, who passed away Monday, Aug. 6, at St. Joseph hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 8, from the Koser funeral home, Landisville. Burial was made in the Eberle cemetery. He resided at 80 South Avenue, Landisville. Born in Rapho (Twp.) he was the son of the late Benjamin R. and Emma Horst Bender. He was married to Mary E. Greider Bender. They would have" celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12. He was a retired farmer and a member of Salunga church of the Brethren. In addition to his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Pauline G., wife of Earl A. Kipp, Elizabethtown; five grand- children; one sister, Mrs. Lily Hess, Lancaster; and one brother, Charles H. Bender, Mount Joy R2. MARGARET R. KOERTING Funeral services for Margaret R. Koerting, 85, one of the first guests at the Mount Joy Schock Presbyterian home, were held Thursday, Aug. 9, from the Reber funeral home in Middletown. Burial was made in Mid- dletown. Death came Monday, Aug. 6, at the Lancaster General hospital. She was a retired employee of the former Olmstead Air Force Base. A member of the First Presbyterian church, Mid- dletown, for 72 years, she was a past matron of the Middletown Chapter 332, Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a member for more than 50 years. GRADUATED Airman Kenneth B. Strominer Jr., son of Mr.-and Mrs. Kenneth B. Strominger Sr. of 307 W. Elizabeth St., Maytown, has completed Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex. During his six weeks training, he studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. The airman is remaining at the Air Training Command base for specialized training in the security police field. Airman Strominger is a 1971 graduate of Donegal high school.
