They toured historic points of interest which included Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Several local couples spent Saturday evening, June 16, in Mount Gretna. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lesher, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Don Zerphey, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Greider,Mr. and Mrs. Barry Etzell and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clinger. They enjoyed dinner on the patio at the ‘Timbers’, followed by the play, “Your Daughter, My Son’’ at the Gretna Playhouse. The conclusion of their evening was a surprise birthday party for Jerry Miller at a cottage rented by the Zerphey and Etzell families. Mr. and Mrs. John Basehore of Del City, Okla., are here for a visit with Mrs. Basehore’s sister, Mrs. Ray Byle, Mr. Byle and their son Kenneth. Planned for their entertainment while they are here are trips into the Amish section, to Park City, Dutch Wonderland and various other tourist attractions, as well as several family get-togethers. Also, the group plans to spend several days at the shore. Mr. and Mrs. Basehore will also spend some time with their son and his family in Lebanon. their son and his family in Lebanon. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Keller and children, Peggy, Patsy, Judy, Timmy, Benji, Joette and Amy, returned June 14 from a one week vacation in Florida. They flew directly to Diseny World and spent two days in the fabulous attraction, staying at the brand Takes Assistant Post At Yale University Miss Janine R. Eshleman, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert F. Eshleman, Mount Joy R2, has accepted a position as assistant in child development in the Department of Child Psychology at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. She was graduated June 3 from Juniata college. GRADUATED Navy Seaman Recruit Donald P. Mclluenna, son of Mrs. Mary J. Mclluenna, of 3 Brandt Blvd.. Salunga, Pa., was graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, III. He is a former student of Hempfield high school. They also did some sightseeing in a rented stationwagon which included Busch Gardens, Cypress Gar- dens, the Gator Farm, drove through the orange groves and toured the Tupperware Headquarters in Orlando. Mr. and Mrs. Keller recently adopted an 11-year-old boy, Benjamin Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Straub and children, Kristen and Freddie, South Market Street, will be moving this weekend to Oak Harbor, Ohio. Mr. Straub has been in Ohio for two months, where he was transferred by his company. The Straubs have been active in the Mount Joy com- munity since moving here several years ago. Jim McNiff and sons Jim and Tom and Gene Newcomer and sons Brad and Brian spent four days recently on a sailing trip to Annapolis, Maryland, aboard the newly acquired 30-foot sailboat belonging to the McNiff family. While in Annapolis they toured the Military Academy and the city. The Messiah Children’s Home spent four days last week on a trip by limousine to Atlantic City and New York City. The group of 14 stayed at the Four Seasons Motel in Atlantic City and en- joyed the ocean, boardwalk, and a lovely meal at the Smithville Inn in Smithville. On Tuesday they spent the entire day touring New York City seeing such sights as the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations Building and Kennedy Airport. In charge of arrangements were house parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sider, and Mr. and Mrs. James Lesher. The children were: Donna Sweeney, Sharon Thomas, Sarah, Harold and David Shutter Roger Faris, Terry Zook, Patrick Lane, Mark Trivitt and Emily Lesher.
