Mrs. Ruth Newcomer celebrated her birthday an- niversary Apr. 17. A surprise ‘Bridal Shower” was given to Sharon Arnold last Thursday evening by Terry Herr, Bonnie Arnold, Susie Yoder and Linda Good. Earl Zinn is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Carl Houseal, Sr., is con- valescing at his home since recently having surgery. Mrs. May Hicks spent Sunday at Lititz with the George Hicks family. Mrs. Samuel Drace returned Apr. 3 from Naples, Italy, where she visited the Edward Waltemyer family. She was very happy to meet her new grand- daughter Nicole. Spc. Michael Drace is now stationed at Frankfort, Ger- many. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Spangler, Hershey, called on Miss Helen Hollenbaugh last Friday evening. Mrs. Robert Farscht, York, visited Miss Helen Sload last Tuesday. The Rev. and Mrs. Vernon Baum & son, York visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haines last Sunday. Sunrise Service will be held on Easter on the lawn adjoining the Reformed Church cemetery at 6:30 A.M. (Weather permitting - otherwise in the church) Easter Dawn Service will be held at the church of God at 6:30 AM. Good Friday Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 12 Noon. In the evening at the United Church of Christ it will be held at 7:30. Plan to attend at least one of these services. Holy Communion will be ob- served in the St. John’s Lutheran Church at 8 A.M. and the United Church of Christ at 10:45 A.M. Pastor Earl Herr will be the speaker at the Early Dawn Service at the Florin Church of the Brethren in Mount Joy at 5:30 AM. The American Legion Auxiliary meeting was held last Monday evening at the home of the president, Mrs. Goldie Yordy. A letter was read from our adopted boy at Scotland School. It was decided to donate $10 to the Bookmobile and give a donation to Keystone Girls’ State instead of sending a representative. Mrs. Yordy reported that she attended the Executive Board Meeting at Huntingdon Motor Lodge last week. Since our unit made goal in membership she was given a ring and as director of the council that had over 90 percent of their membership by Jan. she was given a charm by the National Membership chairman. Easter Eve Baptism The festival of Easter will begin in St. Luke’s Episcopal church with the administration of Baptism on Easter Eve at 4:30 p.m. The Rev. Donald M. Whitesel, rector, announces the following services for the church on Easter Day. 8:30 a.m. there will be a service of Holy Communion, nymns and meditation. Dr. David E. Schlosser will provide special preludes and postludes for all services on this day. At 10:30 a.m. the service will be a Festival Choral Eucharist and meditation. The Church School will meet as always. Following the services, each child attending will receive a small potted flower symbolic of the resurrection to new life. Mrs. Kenneth Warren, director of the Senior Choir, will lead that choir in providing special music for the second service and Mrs. Donald Whitesel will lead the Junior Choir in its program of special Easter music. The Missionary Mite Box Presentation traditionally made on Easter Day, will be held on the Sunday following Easter. The church will be decorated with Easter lilies, tulips, ferns, and candles for the services. An invitation is extended to the people of the area to attend any of the services in St. Luke’s church.
