E. Thu- ma, former Mount Joy resi dents and now of near Mari- etta, has begun a two-year term of service with the Men- nonite Central Committee as a nurse in Appalachia. She will be working with a service unit in McDowell, Ky. Miss Thuma received a B. from S. degree in nursing Messiah College, Grantham, Pa, in 1968. Her father served for sev- eral years as pastor of the Cross Roads Brethren In Christ church. Golfers to Play 2-Day Tourney Mount Joy Golf Assn. will hold its final golf tournament of the year, (A two-day full hand.cap for the association championship.) A number of prizes will be awarded. The two-day event will open Saturday, Oct. 14, at Media Heights Country Club and continue Sunday, Oct. 15, at Cool Creek C. C. Starting times for both days will be 11 to 1. Next week the midget foot- ballers again will be playing on their home field against St. Joe. Games begin at 1 p. m. Last week, the “A” team won 14-12. Donegal scored first with an e'ght-point TD in the first; both clubs mark- ed in the second and Hemp- field again in the third. The double conversion points were the margin of victory, The ‘A’ team was coached by John Wea.and, Rudy Ney and Gar- dner Splaine. It was the “B” team which saw its victory slip away in a tough defeat. The Braves had the game well in hand until the final seconds when Hempfield pushed across a v.ctory touchdown.
