Joy: February 12 marked an im- portant day for the Mount Joy Joycee-ettes as well as our community. The annual Sweetheart King and Queen BULLS, COWS & VEAL Phone (717) 354-2184 a Contest came to a close with the presentation of a check of $250 to the Dental Clinic, The community’s response was marvelous, Each merch ant who participated by dona- ting space for the picture dis plays deserves a ‘thank you,” as well as the First Presby- terian church who so graci- ously donated its facilities for the crowning ceremony. Also thanks goes to the contest- ants’ parents for entering their children in the contest, and for their fine cooperation. To the local newspaper we say “thanks” for the excellent coverage. However, the resi- dents of Mount Joy and the surrounding area deserve the largest share of the credit for their contributions, which are returned to the children of the Dental Clinic. Thank you to all the peo- ple involved, especially our excellent committee: Betty Bitzer, Jacquie Gainer, Marie Herneisen, Shirley Rafferty, and Joycee-ette president Gail Hawthorne. Mrs, Ivan Kreiner and the John Hess family. 48 1c IMPORTANT FOR WIFE TO KNOW FAMILY BUSINESS AFFAIRS While no woman wants to consider the fact that she may become a widow, many fin- ancial advisers suggest that couples talk about such a pos- sibility and about the hus- band’s estate. Every year, many new wid- ows find they are completely ignorant of their husband’s fi- nancial affairs. Extension home management specialists at Penn State university have some suggestions for husbands and wives who have delayed this discussion. The most difficult part of the discussion is bringing up the subject. Once that is over, you should discuss each item thoroughly. And one of you . should take notes as you go along. Instructions to help the wife meet financial problems should include a listing of all life insurance policies, health and accidental death insur- ance, and employee group po- licies, as well as the name of the agent or agents involved. Keep this list in an accessible and, preferably, a fireproof place. Along with the policies, all other assets such as cash, sec- urities' and personal posses- ions should be their approximate values, The location of all bank accounts and safe deposits should be notéd, And the location of keys to deposit boxes should be mentioned, A list of all current debts should be drawn up for the wife's benefit. Another list should include individuals owing the husband money Language is so old—nobody knows how or when it began! along with proof of their debts. The list should be up- dated periodically, remind Ex- tension specialists, You should discuss the lo- cation of property and other ownership records. The wife should also be informed of the location of .the will. While a frantic and lengthy search for the whereabouts of the will has provided many a movie with thrills and excite- ment, it can cause only un- needed problems in real life. iy % XX Frifly or Tailored If you want to look feminine and frivolous, add the ruftle trim to this jumpsuit—it’s optional.
