One housewife said “rd like to do it then because my share will not then inter- rupt my normal household duties.” Who reads faster—men, wo- men or young people? Ob- servers believe that it de- pends entirely upon the indi- vidual. Some portions are more difficult to read aloud than others. But, a young person reported reading again the “old »” Bible stories but con- fessed that there were some which were new. / Generally, the reader and his partner were left some- what in private but much of the time there were other people in the building. While one person read aloud, the other listened, following sil- ently. They read from new Bibles procured for the project by Rev. Bert. They were using a new Paraphrased edition which is written in a langu- age style more nearly paral- leling modern use. Thus the oral reading was believed to be a bit easier than if an old- er translation like the King James had been used. At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, two teams had read 42 chapters of Genesis. ; Monday morning at 11 a. m., the reading had progres- sed into Chronicles I. About 10 a. m. Tuesday morning the readers ended the Old and began the New Testament. Tuesday night at 10:30 o’- clock Mike Young was read- ing in Ephesians. At 3:10 Wednesday morn- ing, Jere Herr, a Donegal high school senior, read the final words of Revelations, “May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 1971 Wolgemuth Get-together The Wolgemuths had a fa- mily get together Saturday, Aug. 21 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel M. Wolge- muth, 225 School Lane, Mt. Joy. During the week there were organ recitals in the Starlight Ballroom, live en- tertainment at frequent inter- vals, square dancing, and too many other activities to try to name! Hub of the activity was the Area, where hundreds of “Dutch” exhibits attracted thousands of visitors each day It was a colorful exciting place! Hung from two levels, all the way around the arena, were heirloom coverlets and quilts, each one vying for beauty and interest with ones with which it was displayed. . This double row of prize-win- ning needlecraft was a sight to behold! Then on the floor of the arena were exhibits of crafts —shoe making, cigar rolling, glass blowing, quilting, broom making, wood carving ° and many others. There were “Dutch” goodies for sale — apple butter, bread, bologna, etc. There was an art exhibit, All in all, it was a fabul- ous place. Probably most Mt.
