Subject: PEOPLE! 3 ‘A surprise birthday dinner was held last Wednesday eve- ning, Nov. 4, at Willow Val- ley Restaurant for Cyde Esh- leman on his 75th birthday. The party was hosted by Wal- ter Martin, owner of the two David Martin stores, and the guests were all his employees and their wives. Besides the birthday they were celebrat- ing the 75th anniversary of the two stores. A roast beef dinmer was enjoyed by 28 guests including two couples besides Mr. and Mrs. Eshle- man and his wife from Mt, Joy. They were: Rev, and Mrs. Lester Koder and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waser. In appreciation from Mr. Eshle- man’s fellow employees, he was presented a lovely money tree containing 75 one dollar bills. * * On Saturday evening, Oct, 31, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Russell of Mt. Joy R2 were hosts for a Halloween party attend- ed by 16 guests in costume for the occasion. They enjoy- ed refreshments and games. Those attending from Mount Joy were: Mr. and Mrs. Char- les Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mowrer, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Madara, Mr. and Mrs, Jim Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lucabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Drohan. From Marietta were: Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Arnold and Mr, and Mrs. Ock Brayman. This same group plus their children were among the float partici- pants in the Mount Joy Hal- loween parade depicting “In The Good Ol’e Summertime” at the Mount Joy pool. * * * Freeman Naugle, Park Ave. is a surgical patient in the Lancaster General hospital. He is in Room 779. * * * “Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heckert and children Michelle, Brian and Joel spent last week end at Mr. Heckert’s parents’ home in Romney, West Va. The purpose of their trip was to make apple butter, His parents live near many orch- ards, so the apples were plen- tiful, enough to make ten gal- lons of delicious apple butter stirred for hours in a huge copper kettle over a fire. * * * Mr. and Mrs. George D. Groff, North Market street, and their grandson, Stephen Zink, Mrs. Zink and their son and daughter, Bridgeport, in Lancaster, spent the past weekend in the mountains in Center county. Richard Kepple of 3926 Brisban St., Harrisburg, dis- trict sales manager for the Nationwide Insurance com- pany, has been attending a sales management school at Nationwide’s home office in Columbns. Dick is one of several sales managers from various parts of the country who has qualified for the specialized training.
