Ji Mr. and Mrs. John Zeller and son Brent returned last week from a two-week vaca- tion through the south and north, They visited friends in Evansville Indiana, and saw the horse races in Dade Park, Kentucky. They stopped in St. Louis and spent several days with Mrs. Zeller’s bro- ther and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoffman. While in St. Louis they saw the Cardinals lose a game to San Francisco in Bush Stadium and rode to the top of the Arch, which takes four min- utes to go up and three min- utes to come down. They also enpoyed eating in the fam- ous Stouffers revolving res- taurant and saw the comedi- an, Bill Crosby. From there they went to Minneapolis, Minn., for a vis- it with their son, Terry, who is a student at the Univer- sity of Minnesota. Terry re- turned to Mount Joy with them for a month’s vacation. Enroute home they stopped for a day at the Wisconsin Dells and took a scenic boat trip through the Dells, visited with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hoffer in Sagi- naw, Mich., and a niece and her husband, Mr and Mrs Clarence Dricha in Cleve- land, Ohio. * *%* * Mr. and Mrs. Ron Haw- thorne, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moran and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Moran hosted a cook-out par- ty for 11 couples Saturday ‘evening home of Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne, Shish-kabobs and roasted corn were served along with various goodies, and a scav- enger hunt was held. Those ittending were: Mr. and Mrs, Jim Gingrich. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Newcomer, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lesher, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Newcomer, Mr, Mrs. Warren Skiles. Mr, and Mrs. Jim Thorbahn and Mr. and Mrs. Don Yingst. * ES . x at the Mr. and Mrs. John Harnish and daughter Sarah, and Mr. and Mrs. Lanny Ammon and daughter Christy of Akron, spent three days over the weekend in the mountains at Shunk, Pa. in Sullivan coun- ty. They stayed at Mrs. Har- nish’s parent’s cabin, Friday, Aug. 21 they held a small party for Sarah, celebrating her first birthday. They also visited picturesque World's End State Park. \ * ® Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bitzer and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Kirch- ner spent Saturday and Sun- day camping in Centre Coun- ty at Hemlock Acres near Poe Valley. They visited the military museum and the Boal Mansion at Boalsburg. On their way out of the mountains they were Jucky enough to see a rare piebald doe, which is an albino deer with a few brown spots. While in Brighton they enjoyed shopping at Havard Square in the many mod and hippie shops and took a subway ride to Bos- ton, = ® * In Ocean City, N. J. . last week were Mr. and Mrs. Rob- ert Eshleman and children Scott and Sherri. They en- joyed eating at different res- taurants and swimming. Mrs. Eshleman’s mother, Mrs. Eth- el Gantz, from Elizabethtown joined them for two days. On Sunday evening they visited the Jeff Brian family at Ocean View Camping Grounds. * % - Ralph F. Kline, owner of Kline's store and rooflng and siding contractor, left last Tuesday for a two week vaca- tion at Lake Tahoe, on the California-Nevada border. Request had been made to rezone the area north of Ap- ple Alley and east of Jacob to make possible building of multiple dwellings. Residents of the area, how- ever, objected at a special meeting held Monday night.
