Peterman, his wife, the former Lois Jean Kreider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Kreider. Mount Joy and their three daughters, Joyce, Nancy and Carol, have just completed 12 years of pastoral service at the Man- or Brethren in Christ church, Mountville, Rev. They had planned to be semi-retired but the great need for ministers has moved him to accept an as- signment with the Centerville Brethren in Christ church, where he will be serving af- ter a vacation trip West. Rev. Peterman was born and raised near Carlisle, and is a 1957 graduate of Mes- siah College. He was gradu- ated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in ’60 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree and as president of the class. Rev. and Mrs. Peterman have just received first prize in a hymn-writing contest sponsored by their denomina- tions at its recent General Conference at Upland, Calif, The title of this hymn is, Christians, Rejoice, the Lord is by our side.” Bishop Charlie B. Byers of the Atlantic Conefrence will be installing Rev. Peter- man in the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. The public is invited to at- tend the service. Hold Summer Court of Honor The Mount Joy Boy Scout troop 39, held its Annual summer court of honor pro- gram Aug. 17. The program was handled entirely by..the boys, this in its self was quite an accomplishment. Members of the troop committee & the scout master were on hand to present the awards to the honored members. as follows. Terry Zook was recognized for completion of “his Tender- foot rank. The second class rank was awarded to James Rye & Keith Smith, James Rye also received the award of Bugler for the troop. The first class rank was a- warded to, Dean Buchenauer & Thomas Hamill. Dean also received five merit badge cer- tificates. Tom received four merit badges & Lester Stoner received one merit badge. The following patrol lead- ers also were installed. John Hart Talks To Rotariaas John Hart, son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Hart, Marietta road, was the speaker Tues- day noon at the weekly lun- cheon meeting of the Mt. Joy Rotary club, held at Hostet- ters. An active participant in the Campus Crusade for Christ International, he ex- ,plained the work his organi- zation is doing, attempting to combat the disruptive in- fluences which are rampant across the nation. A Donegal high school and West Chester college wrest- ler, he gives much of his _ time to a section of the pro- gram known as “Athletes for Christ.” The young men trav- el to many colleges, hold a wrestling meet and at the same time witness for their beliefs. The speaker was introduc- ed by his father. S., Maytown, was held ITonday evening, Aug. 17 at the Pon- derosa near Middletown. This is the summer home of Mr, and Mrs. Elmer Giveler. Of the original 16 members 14 are living, There were 9 members and 4 teachers pres- ent. A buffet luncheon was serv- ed and the host, Elmer Givel- er’s surprise was a delicious roasted turkey. Holds ‘Luau’ at Sarvers On Monday evening, Aug. 24, members of the Mount Joy Business and Profession- al Women’s club and their guests enjoyed a “luau” at the home of club member, Mrs. Herbert Sarver, Mount Joy R2. Entertainment was provid- ed by a group of young peo- ple known as “The New Am- ericans.” They sang a variety of selections, including “I Wanta Go Back To My Little Grass Shack in Kahului, Ha- waii” sung by Sandra Heisey. The evening of fun and re- laxation was climaxed by the presentation of ‘“high-lights” from the 1970 convention of the national federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs Inc. held Ju- ly 19-23 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Reports were given by Misses Anna Mae and Ruth Eby, Mrs. Joseph Germer and Miss Esther Walters. Miss Becky Germer, also a recent visitor to Hawaii, delighted the g-cup with her presentation oi a hula and slap dances. The summer outing com- m’itee included: Mrs. Adam Geer and Mrs. Benjamin horst, Jr., co-chairmen, Mrs, Jay Barnhart, Mrs. James Ba- ker and Mrs. Herbert Sarver. The first meeting of the 1970-71 club year will be on Monday, September 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Hostetter’s and will be in charge of the World Affairs committee with Mrs. Jay Meckley, chairman. On Dean's List Kathleen A. Ney, Marietta: David S Crider, Manheim R3 and Bryan D. Rosenberger, 5849 Lemon St., East Peters- burg, have been named to the Dean’s List at Juniata college for the second semes- ter 1969-70, it was announc- ed by Dr. Donald M. Rock- well, dean of academic af- fairs, Kathleen, whose major is biology, had a perfect 4.00 average, as did Bryan, who is majoring in economics. Da- vid, a German major, had a better than 3.75 average. UNIT OF MEASURE The foot as a unit of meas- ure is based on the length of the human foot.
