Wolgemuth of 31 Mount Joy St., arrived in the South China Sea and participated in birthday celebrations a- board the guided-missile des- trover USS Parsons. The entire crew celebrated the ship's first anniversary with a huge cake and an el- aborate Sunday dinner. Before it's commissioning in San Diego a year ago, Par- sons was converted to a guided missile destroyer. Its superstructure was almost entirely removed along with the 5.inch 54 caliber gun mounts, and replaced with the Tartar Missile System, antisubmarine rocket missile system, and an all new elec- tronics system. The ship is presently oper- ating with the N. S. Seventh Fleet as flagship for Com- mander Destroyer Squadron 31. IN GERMANY Pvt. Lloyd C. Nentwig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd G. Nentwig, 224 Cherry St., has arrived in Germany and has been assigned to Battery B., 2d Battalion, 75th Artillery here. Pvt. Nentwig, a graduate of Donegal high school re- ceived his basic training at Fort Dix, N. J. and will serve as a cannoneer. Joycee-ettes Hold Meeting The monthly meeting of the Joycee-ettes was. held on Tuesday, Nov. 19 with Pres- ident, Pat Lesher, presiding. An unusual demonstration was given by Mrs. Donald Gibble using artificial flowers on a canvas background to make a lovely picture. The final session of the baby sitting course was held Nov. 9. The girls were given the required test to pass the course, then treated to re- freshments. The baby sitting directories will be available the middle of December in all local doctor and dentist offices. Forty.five eligible teenage girls will be listed in this book. Directories wili also be available from Mrs. William Bitzer. Girls who re- ceived a certificate and have any questions should call Mrs. Bitzer. A frozen pizza sale is in full swing for Saturday, De- cember 7 with Mrs. Jeff Meckley and Mrs. Ronald McClellan serving as co- chairmen. This project is benefit of “Operation Pretz- el”. In student days, he did summer mission work in backwoods Congregational churches in Maine. He also was pastoral assistant to sev- eral churches in New York City. He is a graduate of Al- bright College, of New York Theological Seminary, and of Princeton Theological Semi- nary. In his ex-officio rela. tionship to the Board of Mis- sions, he has traveled in Asia and in the Caribbean. He is an honorary life mem- ber of the Associated Church Press. Auto Crashes Fred Loraw, 39, 127 North Market Ave., escaped seri- ous injury Sunday night, No- vember 24, when he was in- volved in a one-car accident about 10 p. m. on Donegal Springs Road. He suffered back strain in. juries and was taken in Mt. Joy Friendship Fire company ambulance to St. Joseph's hospital for .treatment and was released. His auto struck a parked car belonging to Ted Gos- shall, 370 Donegal Springs Road. The fire company re- sponded to a call to wash down the street. BREAKS HIP Oscar B. Hendrix, Donegal Springs road, is a patient in St. Joseph’s hospital, follow- ing a fall in which he frac- tured his hip this past week end.
