When it comes to homemade candy—creamy-smooth chocolatey fudge is the all-time favorite! Perfect creamy-smoothness is as- .sured in all candies when evaporated milk, the double-rich whole ‘milk concentrate is used in the making. This streamlined recipe ‘requires no thermometer and the basic syrup cooks in minutes. It’s best to make a hatch at a time, which poses no problem since it is speedily prepared. So for family feasting throughout the holidays—and as a special remembrance for friends and neigh- hors—make batches and batches of this real chocolatey, creamy fudge. \ 2 cups sucar 3 tablespoons hutter V4 teaspoon sait 1 cup evaporated milk | cup miniature F marshmallows Quick and Easy Fudge 1% cups (9 0z.) semi-sweet \ chocolate pieces : 1 teaspoon vanilla +25 cup chopped pecans 7 " Tn a 2 or 3-quart saucepan-combine sugar, butter, salt and levaporated milk. Old-Time Religion We enjoyed the following story which we heard recent- ly on the program called “Postmark U.K.” broadcast on Sunday mornings from ra- dio station’ CBL in Toronto, Ontario. A few years ago it was the custom for members of some of the Presbyterian churches in England to inter- rupt Sunday services with such expressions as ‘Praise the Lord.” One minister, feel- ing that such zealous shouts were not sufficiently dignified for a Presbyterian church, offered to give a. pair of blankets to some of his over- ly enthusiastic parishioners if they would refrain from in- lerrupting the service. These were poor people, and a pair of blankets was a desirable gift. One parishioner, how- ever, was So carried away during one service by the minister’s eloquence that he shouted in a voice that could be heard a half-mile away, “Blankets or nae blankets, hallelujah!” The pendant nests of the Baltimore oricles are marvels of weaving, They are strong enough to support many times the weight of the brood. He's too fat to play golf. If he puts the ball where he can hit it, he can’t see it, and if he puts it where he can see it, he can’t hit it.
