Thomas A new l‘ne of small elec- tric appliances recently in- troduced promise to help overcome servicing difficuit- ies. “Lifelong’’ appliances are designed for do-it-yourself repairs. Electric percolator, toaster, and a steam-spray iron are built with working components that you can lift out as units. Snap fits and easy locking mechanisms hold the components togeth- er. For example, you can lift out thermostat plus heat- ing elements for the toaster and replace them with rela- tive ease. Cost of replacement parts built into components at the factory seems to be less than separate parts assembled by a serviceman. Because heat- ing elements are part of the same component as the ther- mostat, chance for future trouble is also forestalled when a new component is locked into place. Do-it-yourself repairs on small appliances may reduce both cost and frustration. When a small appliance does not operate satisfactorily, your problems are likely to begin. Almost every commu- nity lacks trained appliance servicemen with skills and necessary replacement parts to repair the variety of appli- ances you own. Even if you find a service- man, the appliance is likely to be in his shop, or at least not usable, for weeks, or pos- sibly months. If repair is only possible at the factory, costs of repair- ing and shipp'ng the appli- / ance are likely to be higher /# | than the value of the appli- ance. ® Worry Clinic (From ' page 4) For sexual magnetism soon wanes, but true love zooms greater with the years!
