December 22, 1967 Dear Sir, While I have not had the pleasure of meeting you per- sonally I do have a couple friends who work for you in the back room there by the names of Curley and Paul. I thought you might like to know that I enjoy reading your paper and also to men- tion the fact that on my re- turn from Frankfurt, Ger- many, the other day I met a man who said his wife was from Mount Joy and was the aunt of Leo and Charlie Frank, two long time friends. I told him I was a native of Mount Joy and I consider- ed Lancaster County the nicest place of all my world travels. I serve as a Purser on the MAC operation of Eastern Air Lines. It is my responsibility to brief my crew on emergency proced- ures, make announcements, handle all military and gov- ernment paper work and see that the trip runs smoothly in the cabin. I had the op- portunity to fly to Germany, Spain and England nine times and Viet Nam three times thus far. We fly from Tacoma and stop in Honolulu, Wake, Guam and on in to Viet Nam. We return by way of the Philippines and have long layovers but the troops get there in about 20 hours. On my layover in Germany last week I flew down to Rome where I had the pleasure of tetter, Millersville, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Joseph Hos- tetter, Elizabethtown RI. Groff is pastor of the Eiizabethtown Church of God, and Mrs. Groff is the kindergarten teacher at Grandview ele- mentary school here in Mt. Joy. . When Rev. Groff was at- tending seminary in Findlay, Ohio, he and Mrs. Groff were advisors for the youth group in their church. One of the junior high lads was a bright, friendly, prom- ising young chap whom ev- eryone called “Little Harry”. That same young chap is now an I.U. sophomore, star halfback of the football team and is affectionately known to thousands as “Harry (Go- Go) Gonso!” Needless to say, the Groffs were rooting madly for their erstwhile “little” friend! * * 3% Yet another young man was bragging to us last week of his “moment of glory” in connection with the famous I. U. team. Ray Peacoe, now biology teacher in a Port Washing- ton, N.Y. junior high school was a dinner guest with his wife and baby son just before Christmas. Ray received his master’s degree from Indiana University in 1965, and dur- ing his year there he often coached one of this year’s football “greats” who had trouble with biology! - * * * So “it’s a small world, af- ter all’ But a good world.
