Analyzing the things which make people laugh, Profes- sor John Ellsworth Winter of Millersville college, philoso- phy department, said that hu- mor is the human-ness of hu- manity. Humor, he concluded, is a “change of pace” which gives meaning to life. It is not, he said, after discussing ancient and modern philosopher’ viewpoints on humor, any- thing which is low, degrad- ing harmful, or ugly. Americans, he pointed out, like humor which has a “punch” tagged at the tail end of a story or, a situation. The program was arranged and the speaker introduced by Jay Risser, first vice-presi- dent.
