The Rev. and Mrs. Luther Straley, Athens, N. Y., visit- ed relatives and friends in town, last week. Mrs. Hazel Crankshaw and her mother, Mrs. Flora Shire- man were sightseeing at Lake George and the New England states last week. They visited a granite mine in Vermont. The Church of God had no services on Sunday evening so the members could attend the Churches of God Evang- elism Rally in the First Churches of God, Lancaster. Dr. Lyman Coleman, a form- was the speaker. The Excelsior Class of the above church met in the So- cial room Tuesday evening. Revival services will be held in the Church of God during the week of Nov. 14- 21. The Rev. C. C. Brown, pastor of the Church of God at Lawnton, Pa., will be the preacher. The American Legion Aux- iliary met Monday evening at the Legion Home with Mrs. Goldie Yordy in charge. An- nouncement was made of a bazaar and food sale to be held at Arnold’s Garage, on Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. The ladies decided to hold future meet- ings during the fall and win- ter at various members’ homes. The November meet- ing will be at the home of Mrs. Mabel Haverstick and the December meeting at the home of Mrs. Ada Frank. The Auxiliary members are invited to meet jointly with the Legion on Thursday even- ing, Nov. 4. Mrs. Goldie Yordy and your correspondent attended the meeting of the Lancaster County American Legion Auxiliary at Manheim last Tuesday evening. The LCW of St. John’s Lu- theran church attended a meeting at Christ Lutheran church in E-town where they heard a book report given by Mrs. Wallace Fisher. The Luther League met at the church at 2 pm. to go on a hike. Pastors Peirson and Cole- man will exchange pulpits on Sunday morning. Pastor Pier- son will be in Bainbridge and Pastor Coleman in May- town. This is to promote a better understanding and fel- lowship among the district congregations. ‘Parable’ Movie To Show Here “Parable’’, the outstanding color film featured in the Protestant and Orthodox Cen- ter at the World's Fair will be shown in Chiques Metho- dist church, Rte 230, East of Mount Joy. on Sunday even- ing, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. The film has been called “eloquent” by Time Maga- zine. Newsweek said “It is very probably the best film at the Fair” It was produced by the Protestant Church of the City of New York and filmed at Baraboo, Wisconsin at the Circul World Museum. Since there are no words in the film the interpretation depends upon what each per- son brings spiritually to it. It is designed to encourage the study of the Scriptures and the deepening of insight into the meaning of the Christian Faith. IN AIR FORCE Ronald L. Cooke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd G. Cooke of 227 North Market Street has enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and is presently under- going four-weeks basic train- ing at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
