Chris Prentice from Rac-
ine, Wis., was the Speficer on
Tuesday noon at the weekly
luncheon meeting of the
Mount Joy Rotary club, held
at Hostetters.
A past district governor of
Rotary International, he and
Mrs. Prentice were on their
way to Atlantic City, N. J,
to attend the organization's
annual international conven-
tion next week.
“This is not the age of
machines, missiles and vacu-
um tubes,” the speaker said.
“It is an age for men who
can think, plan and act.”
His theme was for a high
ethical standard in govern-
ment, and in individual lives.
He advocated, ‘Let it be
known what we stand for as
well as what we stand
against.”
During the noon meeting
he presented to Henry G.
Carpenter, also a past district
governor of Rotary, one of
five specially- made gavels
which were fashioned from
wood taken from the Racine,
Wisc., birthplace of Paul
Harris.
Harris was the founder of
Rotary.
