Last Sunday afternoon 16 senior citizens met at the St. John’s Lutheran Church to discuss plans for organizing a Senior Citizens’ Club. Paul Beshler, chairman of Social Missions was in charge. Oth- er members of the committee are Mrs. Henrietta Trostle, Mrs. Anna Houseal, Mrs. Mary Trone and Mrs. Ivan Hess. There was a short hymn sing and refreshments were served. Mrs. Fink was the pianist. The next meeting will be Wednesday afternoon, June 16. It is hoped that there will be a better turn out for this meeting. June 14 will be the last meeting of the American Le- gion Auxiliary for the sum- mer. PAGE THREE Visitor From Wisconsin Talks Chris Prentice from Rac- ine, Wis., was the Speficer on Tuesday noon at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Mount Joy Rotary club, held at Hostetters. A past district governor of Rotary International, he and Mrs. Prentice were on their way to Atlantic City, N. J, to attend the organization's annual international conven- tion next week. “This is not the age of machines, missiles and vacu- um tubes,” the speaker said. “It is an age for men who can think, plan and act.” His theme was for a high ethical standard in govern- ment, and in individual lives. He advocated, ‘Let it be known what we stand for as well as what we stand against.” During the noon meeting he presented to Henry G. Carpenter, also a past district governor of Rotary, one of five specially- made gavels which were fashioned from wood taken from the Racine, Wisc., birthplace of Paul Harris. Harris was the founder of Rotary. School Band Concert Tuesday The annual Band Concert by the Seiler and Grandview elementary schools will be presented Tuesday evening, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Annex auditorium.
