By ‘driving equipment’, says Edward P. Curran, Safe- ty Director of the Club, “we mean not only the safety features of the car. but the safety qualifications of the driver himself. “This is going to be a busy summer on the highway — probably the busiest in his- tory—and the roads will be unsafe for mechanically un- fit cars and physically defic- ient drivers. “The wise motorist usually looks to his mechanical equip- ment, but often overlooks his own physical qualifica- tions, such as sight and hear- ing. He is likely, also to drive when the state of his general health is below par, thus ma- terially reducing his efficien- cy as an operator “Our advice to motorists is to make both a mechanical and physical check-up hefore entering this busy period of motoring. Good -vision for one thing is of paramount im- portance, particularly night driving. Safety engineers have long held the opinion that many accidents explain- VALUE OF AG.
