Thursday, March 8 3 First Basketball Foul Shooting Contest Held contestants from thirteen schools in Lancaster County took part in the first annual basketball foul shooting contest, held at the Manheim Central High School, Manheim. Glenn Montgomery, from Ed- ward Hand High School, Lan- caster, won the Junior Division with 41 successful free throws out of 50 tries. 18 boys took part in the Division. Don Portner, a member of the Senior class of Lampeter- Strasburg High School, won the Senior division, with 45 free throws out of 50 tries. In winning the Senior honor, Don made 29 in succession. There were twenty contestants in this Division. From Donegal, in the Senior division, Charles Snyder finish- ed in a three-way tie for eighth Thirty-eight place, with 37 out of 50, and | Joe Hostetter finished in a 3- way tie for eleventh place, with 34 out of 50. In junior division from Don- egal. Don White was tie for fourth place with 38 out of 50, and Sam Grove was tie for 8th place with 34 out of 50.
