Bettie Jane A-ndt Farm Clean-up Will Begin Next Monday, April 2 Call for Pennsylvania's annual farm cleanup week to begin Mon=- day, April 2, was issued at Har- risburg by the American Founda= tion for Animal Health and co= operating groups. Theme of this year's cleanup week is: Clean up for more profits through fewer livestock disease losses. Here are some of the farm pointers suggested for the week in the bulletin issued today. by the Foundation: 1. Buildings in which livestock kill cleaned and disinfected to disease germs and parasites. 2, Mudholes and stagnet ponds which may harbor parasites and germs should either h2 drained or fenced off. 3. Old strawstacks, common sources of infection, should be spread and plowed under. 4. Holes in foundations, where pigs or poultry could burrow un- der, should be walled up. 5. Noils, glass, wire and other objects which cattle might swal- low step upon, should be picked up. Protruding nails in in mangers partitions should be removed. or or 6. . As soon as possible, young livestock should be moved to pasture that has not been used the same species for two years. Authorities estimated that the annual loss from common barn- yard disease and parasites totals more than half a billion dollars. Much of this loss could be prevented by proper sanitation and disease prevention measures, the Foundation said. Coopera- tion of farmers, veterinarians and all livestock health authorities is urged in this annual cleanup week starting April 2. Weddings (Form page 1) Uniied Tarowing Pilani, Columbia.
