A WISE OWL

Well, here we go delving into an-
other New Year and it seems like
only yesterday that we started 1950.
How time do fly.

Betyu I won't break any of my
New Year's resolutions quick as
you will — I'd ‘even gamble on that.
Didn’t make any ’cause I broke ev-
ery dern one I made last year, so
what's the use,
Inptead of resolutions, I' made
just plain promises and, as you all
know, they're easier ‘to break.

Well, we had the, usual New Yea?
entices as heretofore. A guy dn Mt.
Joy Street came home early Mon-
day morning, put his wife out in*
stead of the cat, then went up to
bed. a
Another

gay up at Florin,
‘home, by his. friends,
crawled ‘up the steps on his hands
and knees and .when he, got on the
perch, felt the bushy hair on his
dog lying on the door mat, thought |
it was his wife’s head he felt; lay
down and went to sleep.
The milk man woke him, and
said he'd Letter go to bed, they
both met the wife at the back door
and what a bawling out that milk
peddler got for bringing her hubby
home at such an hour.
A certain lady here gave a party
New Year's eve. She tidied up the
bath room and put a note on the
towels, “If you use these I'll kill
you,” being meant for her husband.
After the party not one towel was
disturbed. She forget to remove
the note.

Park Neiss, our cop, sent a lady
a summons for driving thru a red
light. She was a school teacher and
immediately iook her notice to
Burgess Zerphey, saying she could
not appear later on account of
teaching school.
Good Big Hearted Elmer says:
Okay, I'll dispose of ycur case im~
mediately. Sit down and write “I
drove through a red light,”
times.
A certain fellow down on East
Main Street was plodding home
early New Year's Day when he
spied a small neatly tied package
lying on the sidewalk. Not having a
dime, but up to this time always
being honest he slipped it intg his
pocket, deciding to keep the con-
tents.
A short time after reaching home
he went to a secluded spot where
he could be alone, and cpened the
package. In it was a note CRIME
DOES NOT PAY.

Our local taxi driver had a funny
experience the other night. He
picked up a guy at the postoffice
corner who handed him some
money and said he should drive
him around until the money runs
out. After making several rounds
about town the cabbie came back
to the postoffice, let him out and
there sood his wife who was wait-
ing for him.
Well, that's what makes life in-
teresting and furnishes food for
this column — the funny things
that happen. Now don't forget us
thruout the year.
