Henny Garber says when a man
has a birthday he usually takes a
day off, but when a woman has a
birthday she takes a year off,

One of our young shieks came to
me for advice the other day. He
asked me what he could do to keep
from falling in love. I asked him if
he ever tried renting a house. That
cures a lot of ’em in Mount Joy.
A certain store here put on a
new clerk and among the boy's in-
structions was this:
“If you don’t happen to have
what a customer wants, suggest
something as nearly like it as pos-
sible.”
The boy’s first customer was a
woman who wanted to know if he
had any fresh green stuff today.
The boy said—*“No ma’am, but
we have some nice bluing.”

One of our young shieks told me
that instead of having a good time
with wine, women and song, it's
wood alcohol, nurses and funeral
march,

I know a preacher who may not |
be able to say all he wants to in
thirty minutes but believe me he’s
sure to say all the congregation
wants to hear.

One of our business men claims
you can’t keep a good man down but
you can certainly kick the stuffin
out of him before he gets up.

There’s a young fellow in town
who says if they don’t blame soon
let him join the band and play his
cornet, he’ll join the Salvation
Army, then he can play in public.

I was invited to a party’ the other
night and here’s the menu:
Pikled Ojsters
Bisque of Snajls
Fried Fish
Natjve Wine
Qujnce Jee cream
Onions and Bjsquits

“Little boy, are you good?”
“Yes, ma'am, replied the boy.

“Yes, ma'am.”
