Auto Mishaps
Over the Week End
THREE CARS COLLIDED WEST
OF FLORIN SUNDAY MORNING
—TRAIN STRUCK AUTO AT
CHICKIES

This community had the usual
number of accidents over the week-
end. Those which came to our no-
tice are appended:
Car and Truck Collide
Christian Hiestand, of Lobata,
while driving an automobile in town
Monday afternoon collided with an
automobile truck owned by a Mount
Joy resident. Both persons escaped
injury but the two cars were badly
damaged.
Steering Rod Broke
Mr. William Bailey, who is em-
ployed at Ream’s garage met with
an unavoidable accident at the inter-
section at Main and Lumber streets
Monday forenoon. Just as he
rounded the corner the steering rod
broke and the car ran on the side-
walk. No one was injured and
there was no further damage.
Mashed Rear Wheel
Saturday evening a man came in
North Barbara street at a rather
lively clip. He was going so fast that
he had to make a wide turn at Main
and as a result banged into another
car and mashed his own rear wheel
which was the extent of the damage.
Car Rolled Over
A Ford touring car owned by a
man from Newtown, turned turtle
on the Mt. Joy and Marietta pike

| RETIRED MILLER WAS
Vv 67 YEARS OLD LAST WEEK

H. H. Kaegel, the retired miller,
of East Donegal, passed his sixty-
seventh birthday anniversary enjoy-
ing the best of health, Mr. Kaegel
was engaged in that business since
1872, and when he began working
received only $6.00 a month. At
that time he thought it was “big
money.” He learned his trade with
John Moore, near Salunga. Jacob
Sentz now owns the mill which he
sold; prior to Mr. Kagel’s ownership,
it was Amway’s and Johnson’s mill.
