Our evening mails have not been handled to per- fection since last Tuesday, just one week yesterday. It is of course understood that we only receive first-class mail in the evening and dispatch only that kind of mail. Myers was oiling while it was in operation, when his left hand was caught in the work- ings of the machine. He was taken to the office of Dr. A. F. Snyder, who advised that the finger should be amputated. He was therefore taken to Lancaster where the opera- tion was performed by Dr. Appel. The young man with five others had started out on Saturday night from here in an automobile for the festival at Akron. Mr. Daman, a member of Washington lodge, No. 59, of Philadelphia, died on June 20, 1912. His will provided $40,000 for building and maintaining a cottage or cottages to be named in honor of him. How he met his death is not known but the supposition is that he was on the road to work when the acci- dent happened. The crew of the train that killed the man picked up his body, which wag terribly mangled, an entire train having passed over him, and carried it to Watts Station two squares distant. He was 26 years old, a son of Mrs. Agnes Baney and the late Tobias Baney.
