Henderson, 83, of 17 East High St., Maytown, a retired Donegal school teacher, died. last Monday at _Heatherbank Nursing Home, Columbia. Miss Henderson retired in 1963 after 46 years of teaching elementary and secondary school in Mount Joy, East Donegal, West Donegal and Donegal School districts. A 1915 graduate of Maytown High School, Miss Henderson began her teach- ing career in the one-room Fairview School in West Donegal Township, after + taking the necessary county examination. She earned $315 a year as a teacher, and worked as a store clerk to earn enough money to attend Millersville College. She received her teaching certificate in 1920. She belonged - to’ the Maytown Reformed Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Marietta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Maytown Civic Associa- tion, the Maytown American Legion Auxiliary Unit #809, the National Retired Teach- ers Association, the May- town Fire Company ‘Aux- iliary and the Maytown High School Alumni Association, of which she was secretary for many years. The Indians managed to score the first 11 points of the game, but Garden Spot lead 32 to 30 at the half. With a minute left in play, Garden Spot lead 58 to 54. The Indians scored the last three points of the gam, but it was not enough to take the contest. Mike Frey once again was the games high scorer with 22 points. The JV team lost 37 to 57. The Indians take on ELCO at home Tuesday night, and then take part in the tournament to be held at Donegal. The holiday tourn- ament is Monday and ~ Tuesday; Dec: 29 and-30.
