Fairview Ave., Marietta, a daughter at the General Hospital last week. October 15, 1989 Mr. and Mrs. Mervin S. Arnold The Mervin S. Arnolds married sixty years Mr. and Mrs. Mervin S. Arnold, 20 South Harter St., Maytown, were honored by their family at a dinner party at Avalong Farms Banquet Room, York, recently, in observance of the couple’s sixtieth wedding anniver- sary. The couple was married October 7, 1920, in, Hagars- town, Md., by the late Rev. Lytheton M. Ferguson. Mr. Arnold is a retired automobile dealer. He was in business from 1928 until 1971. He has served on the board of directors of the Union National Mount Joy Bank since 1941 and was president of the Maytown National Bank from 1953 to 1957 when it and the Union National Bank merged. Mr. Arnold is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Arnold and his wife's parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Linde- muth. The couple has belonged to the Maytown Church of God since their marriage. They have three sons: Dale and Glenn, both of Maytown; and -Merle, of Williamsport. They have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Joel Sater is speaker for Marietta Lions Club Joel Sater, editor and publisher of the Antique News, a publication circu- lated throughout the states on the Eastern seaboard, was the speaker at the dinner meeting of the Marietta Lions Club held recently. Sater praised the Marietta Restoration Associates and the many individuals who have converted and restored property in the borough of Marietta. He is pleased that residents have opened var- ious shops, invited tourists to visit the area and study local architecture. ‘‘All contributed to the unique- ness of Marietta,”” Sater told the group. Edgar Appley conducted the business session of the program, stating that three new members will be inducted into the club at the October 23 meeting. Representatives from the Marietta Lions Club will attend the Lion Regional Rally to be held at Hostetter’s Banquet Hall on October 30. A workshop will be held on October 21 for the readying of the Christmas street lights to be installed November 23. This is an annual community project completed by the Marietta Lions Club. School board agenda The monthly meeting of the Donegal School Board will be held Thursday, October 16, at 8 pm in the district office, Mount Joy. The agenda follows. 1.
