Did You Hear? §§§ Sandy Heisey, the Mount Joy songbird playing the part of ‘‘Mrs. Molloy” in Columbia Little Theater’s musical, ‘‘Hello, Dolly!”’ did double duty in that production for several per- formances recently. When Janet Walker, in the lead role of Dolly, lost her singing voice for two performances, Sandy stood behind the curtain and sang Janet’s songs while Janet went through the motions of acting her part. Sandy did all the singing of Janet’s role on very short notice—a couple of hours— and also played her own role of Mrs. Molloy. Sandy’s mother, Zelda Heisey, was speechless with amazement at her daugh- ter’s Herculean perform- ance. Honest! §8§ A local man, Norm Huber, whose fishing equip- ment was stolen several weeks ago, will soon have new equipment compli- ments of the Mount Joy Lions Club. §§§ The Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, Salunga, has announced terms of volun- tary service for two local church members. Marcia Mellinger Marcia Mellinger, of Mount Joy R.D.1, will serve her term of service as a program aide at a rescue mission in Syracuse, N.Y. Marcia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mellinger, Mount Joy. She graduated from Donegal High School in 1974 and earned her B.S. degree in Education from Messiah College. She was employed by the Kraybill Mennonite School prior to her term of service. She is a member of Cross Roads Brethren in Chirst Church, Mount Joy. Lois J. Roland, Nolt Road, Mount Joy R.D.3, will serve as a day care worker in Birmingham, Ala. Lois is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Roland, Mount Joy. She graduated from Hempfield High School in 1978 and was employed by Holiday Hair Fashions, Lancaster. She belongs to the Hempfield Church of the Brethren. §8§ Jeffrey Baker, son of Mrs. Theodore Shellenberger, Mount Joy, and Richard Baker, Marietta, has been elected vice president of the freshman class at Shippens- burg State College. Seiler Guard of Month David Wilkinson, a sixth grade student, has been named Seiler Elementary School’s Guard of the Month. David is the son of William and Catherine Wil- kinson, 134 North High Street, Mount Joy. He serves as a crossing guard at the school. David, who has five brothers and sisters, enjoys riding bike and collecting beer cans with his brother. He enjoys math and lan- guage in school. Marietta chorus starts rehearsals October 12 The Marietta Community Chorus will begin rehearsals Sunday, October 12, at 8 pm for the annual Christmas Cantata. Rehearsals will be held in the English United Presbyterian Church, Mari- etta. The chorus will present ‘Night of Miracles’’ by John W. Peterson on December 7, 1980. Mr. Robert Heistand will again direct the chorus. Anyone sixteen years of age and over is invited to sing, and a special invitation is extended to former chorus members who have not participated for some time. A large group of singers was involved in presenting the Easter Cantata and the chorus is looking forward to another large attendance for the Christmas presentation.
