Maytown Fire Company
Receives new ‘‘fold-a-tank”
The Maytown-East Don-
egal Fire Company last
Tuesday received a 2500
gallon fold-a-tank to aid in
rural area fire fighting. The
holding tank is made of
acralon, a material stronger
than nylon, and will be
mounted on the existing
LM
tank truck to by used in
areas where hydrants are
not available or there is a
shortage of water.
The new piece of equip-
ment, ‘the only one of its
kind in the part of the
county, will be shared with
neighboring companies, ac-
cording to Maytown fire
chief Charles Shaffner.
The tank was purchased
from the Richard Bordner
Co., Carlisle, and according
to Richard Bordner, the tank
is the ‘‘largest one in
several counties.’’
The new ‘‘fold-a-tank’’ is admired by members of the Maytown-East Donegal Fire
Company. Left to right: Charles Shaffner, fire chief; Richard Bordner of the Richard
Bordner Co., suppliers of the tank; Bob Smeal, assistant fire chief; and Curtis

Dr. Predicto fumbles
Dr. Predicto, that seien-
tific prognosticator
Mount Joy, last week
demonstrated that football
is more than just numbers
and mathematical computa-
tions. :
This sports editor couldn’t
help chuckling at the
outcome of last week-ends
games. Perhaps it will bring
the good Doktor down to
size. We heard rumors that
he thought his name should
be Dr. Exacto rather than
Dr. Predicto.
from |,
After last week’s perform-
ance, we guarantee that the
name will remain the same.
After a respectable start
on Friday night (Predicto
called 4 correct, 2 wrong)
the Doktor was, in his own
words, ambushed on Satur-
day. The ‘“‘upsets’’ began to
take their toll.
The final results of
Saturday’s contests left Dr.
P. with a weekend total of ,
six correct, seven wrong,
and one tie.
This week the games will
all be part of league
competition, making the
Doktor’s job a bit easier.
Donegal fans will not be
pleased to hear the Predicto
picks ELCO over the Indians
by 34-6. Ouch!
