Backus Miss Elizabeth Marie Splain became the bride of Peter H. Backus Saturday, August 9, at 10 am, at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Marietta, with the Rev. Everest officiating at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner F. Splain, Marietta. She grad- uated from Donegal High School and is employed by Harris Hub, Columbia. The grom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Backus. He is a graduate of Donegal High School and employed with R.K. Vogt Grain, R.D.#1, Marietta. Mrs. Geraldine Myers, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Jennie Vogt was flower girl and ring bearer was Thomas Myers, cousin of the groom. Serving as best man was Keith Vogt. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of poly knit featuring a high neckline of Brussel lace. The softly gathered bodice was trimmed with Brussel lace and flowed into a floor length gown. The full bishop sleeves were softly gathered at the cuff line. She wore a picture hat trimmed with Brussel lace and highlighted with an illusion bloom. She carried a cascading bouquet of blue daisies and white pom-poms with baby’s breath. Organist for the ceremony was Miss Margaret O’Brien and Kim Boyer was soloist. The reception was held in the church social hall. After the reception the couple left for a honeymoon in Stone Harbor and Wildwood, New Jersey. The couple will reside at R.D.#1, Mount Joy. Miss Tammy Lee Kolp, - Marietta, exchanged wed- ding vows with Stephen Mark Kraft at 2 pm Saturday, August 23. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. John S. Heistand, pastor emeri- tus of Congregational Bible Church, Marietta. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Kolp, 1 North Mulberry Street, Marietta. She grad- uated from Donegal High School and is employed by AMP, Mount Joy. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kraft, 116 Sharon Drive, Lan- caster. The Penn Manor High School graduate is employed by Donnelley Printing, Lancaster. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white eyelet which she designed and tailored herself. The fitted bodice had a scooped neckline which was accented with eyelet lace. The same lace accented the fitted waistline. The full Chapel train and hem of the gown were also trimmed in eyelet lace. Her fingertip veil and cap were edged with the same lace. She carried a basket of fresh and silk daisies, baby breath and fresh greens. Miss Pamelo Jo Kolp, sister of the bride, Marietta, was maid of honor. Serving as best man was David Mark Kraft, brother of the groom, Lancaster. Ushers were Darin Ray Kolp, brother of the bride, Marietta, and Terry Feeser, Lancaster. Guest registrar was Miss Diane Myers, Manheim, and gift receivers were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Rupp, Mount Joy. Mrs. Ralph Garber, Eliza- bethtown, was organist, and Steve Garber, Elizabeth- town, was soloist. Following a reception in the church social hall the couple left for a wedding trip to Stone Harbor, New Jersey. The couple will reside on Maple Wood Lane, May- town.
