Ten years ago the three Lancaster County Area Vo- cational-Technical Schools opened their doors to students from the sixteen sending school districts and two parochial schools in the county. Approximately S850 students have completed programs of instruction in twenty-nine trade areas in the Vo-Tech schools. Our Vo-Tech schools pre- pare all types of citizens for employment within our community. They provide our youth with trade knowledge and job entry skills; employees whose job has become more complex can up-grade skills in the adult education as well as a worker who has been displaced from his position due to technological innova- tions can retrain in special- ized programs. Approxi- mately 2300 persons attend adult education classes each year. Industry has been invol- ved with the programs by providing members for craft advisory committees and by employing students in the co-op training program. There is a mutual benefit in the co-op program; students learn in industry and industry realizes employees with job entry skills and trade knowledge. You are cordially invited to attend the Open House designed purposely for pros- pective students, parents and otherwise public to view student projects and to observe students involved in learning experiences. Again, the dates for Open House are Friday, February 1S at the Mount Joy School, and Thursday, March 27 at the Willow Street School. Visiting times are 7 to 9 PM.
