Topics to be covered during the Job Development Workship include self-as- sessment, career decision making and research, re- sumes, job-finding sources, interviewing techniques and other items which relate to a job search. His topic of discussion will be “Organic Gardening—One Solution to the Energy Crunch?” As Managing Editor of Organic Gardening for 27 years, Goldman has devoted much of his time to researching and reporting the significant health as- pects of the organic concept, as well as its importance to self sufficiency. Topics cov- ered during these years have been: investigation of the nutritional value of naturally grown foods, vari- ety breeding for higher vitamin value, biological pest control, optimum use of natural resources, land use reform, and safe energy production alternatives. Stephen D. Doyle, son of Charles D. Doyle of Box 447, Mount Joy, has reported for duty at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona. Farmers First opens drive-in branch office : The thirteenth branch of Farmers First Bank, at Ore Mine Road and Route #441, Marietta, opend for busi- ness Monday, January 28. It is an extension of the Marietta Bank and will be called Rivermoor Branch. The drive-in features a twenty-four hour teller ma- chine which enables a customer to check his balance, make withdrawals or loans, pay utility bills, deposit in Christmas or Vacation clubs, or transfer funds. This is the seventh Round-the-Clock-Teller put into service by the bank. Groundbreaking for the new branch was held September 17, 1979. Robert S. Bolinger, president of Farmers First Bank, and John S. Hiestand, chairman of the Marietta Regional Board, turned over the first spade of earth. Fields Company, Lancas- ter, served as the contractor for the building, with David H. Lynch as the architect. The Marietta office, form- erly known as First National Bank, was founded in 1863 with Abraham Lincoln’s signature on the charter. Capital stock amounted to $60,000. Stockholders origi- nally met in the former high school building, but the first bank structure was pur- chased from C. Stibgen soon after for $3000. The current structure was built in 1875. The First National and the Exchange National Banks merged in 1960. Farmers First and First National merged in 1973. The bank is the oldest establishment in Lancaster County, the fourth oldest in Penn- sylvania, and it holds the 25th charter given by the United States. Hours for the new branch will be 11 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday, at both the lobby and window, 11 am to 8 pm Friday, and 9 am to noon Saturday.
