Bruce is a senior music education major at Bob Jone Universey, Greenville. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Neyer of 306 Birchland Avenue, Mount Joy. §§§ Alice Musser, daughter of Leonard and Jeanette Musser, 3 East High Street, Maytown, has been named to the Messiah College Dean’s List for the first semester. Miss Musser, a graduate of Donegal High School, is a freshman at Messiah which is located in Grantham, PA. §§§ Robert Pekarek, Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy, is majoring in electrical engin- eering at Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He received a 4.0 average and was placed on the Dean's List for the first semester. §§§ Janis I. Brown is bride of Raouf Awad, December.29 The marriage of Miss Janis 1. Brown, York, to Raouf R. Awad, York, took place Saturday, December 29, at 7 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy. Officiating was the Rev. W.L. Koder. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce D. Brown, Mount Joy. Sheisa graduate of Donegal High School and of Millersville State College. She is employed as a subsitute teacher in the York County schools and by Sears, York. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rouphail Awad, Cairo, Egypt. He attends the Pennsylvania State University, York cam- pus, and is employed by ITT Grinnell, Columbia. Attendants to the bride were Mrs. Elaine Ressler, sister of the bride, Miss Jennifer Brown and Miss Brenda Awad. Serving as best man was Dr. Fayez Awad, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Jeffrey Brown, brother of the bride, and David Ressler. Karla Rex Karla Rex receives DAR award for DHS Karla Rex, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. C. Calvin Rex, Columbia R1, was presented with the Good Citizens Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution last week. Karla was one of 17 Lancaster County high school students to receive the award. She said that she “is proud to represent Donegal High School. 1 am happy to be chosen out of the whole school.”’ Students are rated by their fellow students and their teachers for leader- ship, dependability, service and patriotism. The awards are presented annually. Karla is a member of the National Honor Society and the German Club at school. She is also active in her church where she is an assistant Sunday School teacher as well as a piano player. Karla hopes to major in accounting at Messiah Col- lege after graduation from Donegal. She says she would like to become an accountant and ‘‘possibly go into industry. I am not really sure just what I want to do yet.” Karla has one sister, Juanita, in eighth grade. Miss Kathleen M. Breneman is bride of Dale R. Gehman The marriage of Miss Kathleen M. Breneman to Dale R. Gehman took place Saturday, January 12, at 2 pmat the Mount Joy Church of God. Officiating were the Rev. Randall Bistline and The Rev. Fred Martin. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Breneman, 223 N. Barbara St., Mount Joy. She is a graduate of Donegal High School and is employed by Fulton Bank, Eden East branch. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. June Gehman, Paradise R1, and the late Glenn Gehman. He grad- uated from Pequea Valley High School and is em- ployed by Fulton Bank, Gap. The matron of honor was Mrs. Sharon Flowers, sister of the bride, Elizabethtown. Vicki Zeller, Mount Joy, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were: Pamela Breneman, sister of the bride, and Joyce Newcomer, both of Mount Joy, and Karen Newcomer, Lancaster. Elizabeth Eshleman, of Mount Joy was the flower girl. The ringbearer was Randall Wayne Wilson, of Lebanon. Serving as best man was Gene Newswanger, Lan- caster. Ushers were: Jerry Gehman, Carl Gehman and Kent Gehman, brothers of the bridegroom, Paradise; and Richard Breneman, brother of the bride, Mount Joy. The couple plans to live in Lancaster. The purpose of the social is to open up lines of communication amoung var- ious members of the community. The Human Relations Council was formed by Mayor Flanagan, last year, in response to citizen appeal for a greater sense of security and well-being within the borough.
