The Redevelopment Authority has allocated a total of 339.444 from FY 1979 CD funds for Phase II of this project which will continue the renovation of the existing storm sewer sys- tem. At its December 4, 1979 meeting the Board approved a contract with Marietta Borough for the construction activities to be undertaken with the FY 1979 allocation. Marietta Community Recre- ation Center-At its Decem- ver. 1978 meeting the Board * approved a contract with the Muavietta Javcees for $29 thousand to continue with the rehabilitation of centrally located facility in ¢ they Borough of Marietta which will be used as a “community center. Restoration of the Union Meeting House-The project will include the exterior restoration of the Marietta Union Meeting House to its original architectural de- sign. Restoration will enable the building to be utilized by the community for church services, choral presenta- tions. club functions, and presentation of special e- vents. Fighteen thousand dollars from FY 1978 CD funds will be used for irterior | presers ation work including plastering, . chim. ney work, and other ‘miner improvements. Because the low bid was in excess of the amount allocated a change was passed by the orde Board at its September meeting restricting the work required to the exterior improvements. At its Octo- ber 23. 1979 meeting the Board approved the transfer of $11.000 from Local Option Contingency Funds to this project for the construction of a retaining wall. During this report period work progressed on schedule. One half of the roof and part of the south wall has been removed and the repairing and reinforcing of the structure has begun. ELIZABETHTOWN BORO Child Care Outreach-The Elizabethtown Child Care Outreach Program offers a daily program which pro- vides opportunities to de- velop physically, emotion- ally, socially, and mentally for. approximately 20 chil- dren. The Redevelopment Authority has -allocated a total of $35,000 from F¥ 1978 CD funds and a total of $33,125 from FY 1979 CI funds “to - continue the operation of this progran. During the last four months, this program has served an aycrage of 24 children, 87% of which are from low and moderate income families. To date, a total of $9,178.76 has been spent from the FY 1978 allocation, none of the FY 1979 allocation will be spent until the FY 79 funds are depleted. Donegal-Elizabethtown Area Training Center Study- The Redevelopment Auth- ority has allocated $5,000 and the low from FY 1979 Cd tunds to provide . for a feasibility study of the possible establishment of a vocation- al training center for the handicapped to be located in Region 1. A contract with the Elizabethtown Area Unit, of the Lancaster Association for Retarded Citizens for this project will be pre- sented to the Board at its regular January meeting. COLUMBIA BOROUGH Columbia Contraceptive Clinic-This is a continuation of a second year program which provides alternative counscling, contraceptive supplies, and professional services to women of child-bearing age in the Columbia Neighborhood Strategy Arca. The Board of the Redevelopment Author- ity, approved a contract allocating $11,000 from fiscal vear 1979 funds to provide financial assistance to Planned Parenthood of Lancaster to operate this clinic. The clinic has served an average of 25 clients per month over the last four months. The addi- tional funds became neces- sary when it was determined that the consulting assis- tance would cost more than originally anticipated.
