At 10:00am that day the Mount Joy Jaycees’ Mixed Doubles S-Mile Run will pass by their houses. Residents of the area are asked to not back their cars out of their driveways between 10:00am and 10:30am, since the streets will be blocked off at that time. These two avenues are the only residential streets along the primarily scenic rural route of the S-Mile Run. The runners will start at the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School and pass along Sportsman Road, Fairview St., Birchland Ave., Or- chard Rd., Bruce Ave., Plum St., and Risser Mill Road. Those interested in parti- cipating, rather than just spectating, should pick up their entry blanks at Kenny Smith Sport Shop or the Inside Track (on Columbia Ave. near Lancaster). A one-mile Fun Run for kids, and a two-mile run along Sportsman Road, will pre- cede the five-mile run. §8§ §§§ Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Braun, of Georgia, and their children, Ernest Jr. and Karen, are visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Braun, of Mount Joy. The family is formerly from Mount Joy. §§§ Lester Hostetter, of 315 N. Barbara St., Mount Joy, won the Best of Show Award at the 22nd annual Men’s Garden Club Fall Flower Show. This is the third year in a row that he has won that honor. “Mr. Hostetter’s . pink chrysanthemum, which was over six inches wide, won the award. Last year he was named Gardener of the Year by the Men’s Garden Club. §§§ Navy Seaman Apprentice William L. Bitzer, the son of William and Betty Bitzer of Box 45, RD1 Mount Joy, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center in Florida. Bitzer is a 1977 graduate of Donegal High School. §§§ Mrs. Lucille Epler, Mount Joy, recently visited her son and his wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Wesley epler of Riddley Park. §§§ Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Reinhold and Miss Laverne R. Woytek, of Pittsburgh, Penna., came to see Paul's brother, Albert C. Reinhold, Marietta. §§8 Vincent Gaudlip Gaudlip named guard of the month at Seiler Vincent Gaudlip of 314 North Barbara St., Mount Joy, has been named Guard of the Month at the Seiler Elementary School. Vincent is a crossing guard at the corner of Mount Joy and Barbara Streets. Vincent is the son of William John and Karen Gaudlip. He has a sister and a brother, Denise, 10, and Mark, 7. Vincent likes to collect sports cards, his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys and the Phillies. He also likes math class and says that the other kids in his room call him ‘‘the mathematician.” When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, Vincent, without any hesitation said ‘‘a hockey player!” Students in room #50 at Riverview School take a look at the material used by Sgt. Steve Bailey tells kids about fire prevention Sgt. Steve Bailey, a member of the Pioneer Fire Co., gave a talk on fire prevention to the kids in room #50, Riverview School, last Thursday. He explained fire fighting procedures and equipment, told them of the dangers of fire, and reminded them of the new emergency phone number for not only fire, but police or health emergencies also—911. Mrs Darla Schoor is the teacher in room #50. Judy Keller is engaged to Glen G. Beiler, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Harold K.
