October 3, 1979 Mount Joy Jaycees sponsor mixed doubles run also individual runs for all ages on Sat., Oct. 20 The Mount Joy Jaycees is sponsoring a mixed double run on Saturday, October 20, 1979. It is a unique event to encourage male-female running teams, with indivi- duals invited to compete also! The event consists of a 5 mile (team) run; 2 mile (team) run; and a 1 mile kiddies’ fun run. Registra- tion/check in is at 8AM; kids’ run 8:30AM; 2 mile run 9AM; and S mile run 10AM. The starting point and finishing point is Mount Joy Vo-Tech School, along the Sportsman Road, ¥4 mile off Manheim/Mount Joy Road. Exit south from 1-283 along Manheim-Mount Joy Rd. The two and the one mile courses are mostly flat out and back. The five mile course is hilly, challenging to experienced runners. A pre-entry fee of $4 is due (postmarked) October 12. Since matching the resident and the home Obituaries MARY DEMMY Mary Demmy, 79, of Richland Lane, Mount Joy, died in St. Joseph Hospital, after an illness of several years. Born in Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Agnes Shank Demmy. She had been a Mount Joy resident the past 24 years. Prior to that, she lived in Elizabeth- town. She retired in 1961 from the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown, where she was employed in the laundry. She was a member of the Florin Church of the Brethren, Mount Joy. Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Susie S. Demmy, Bertha M. Demmy, J. Walter Demmy and Russell S. Demmy, all at home. MRS. ARTHUR HOWER Mrs. Delores May Schlinkman Hower, 48, of SA Harvest View Apart- ments, Mount Joy, died last week at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Arthur C. Hower. Mrs. Hower had been a nurse’s aide at Osteopathic Hospital until the onset of her illness. She moved to this area in 1959, from South Dakota, where she was born, a daughter of Olga V. Lee Fravel, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, and the late Clarence L. Peden. In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Vicki, the wife of Robert J. Stauffer of Lancaster, and Nadine L., of Philadelphia; five sons: Richard C., Honey Brook; Ray C., Bellingham, Wash.: Arthur Lee, Lancas- ter; Scott M., Hahn AFB, Germany; and Ted, Lancas- ter. She is also survived by six grandchildren; a sister, Darlene, the wife of Sarg Kary, Ericka, S.D.; and a maternal grandfather, Charles Lee, of Hull, Iowa. MRS. LESTER WOLGEMUTH Mrs. Anna S. She was a member of the Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church and the Farm Women Society #8. She was a graduate of Donegal High School. She is survived by, in addition to her husband, three children: Charlotte Ann, the wife of Parke M. Lefever, Mount Joy RD2; Lonny L., Williamsville, NY; and J. Dallas, Harrisburg; and six grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Charlotte, the wife of Judson W. Hill, Midland, Mich., and four brothers: Charles Sload, Marietta; Robert Sload, Houston, Texas; Gerald Sload, Fred- ericksburg, Va.; and George Sload, Lancaster.
