1is ALE September 12, 1979 Friendship had busy firefighting, During the month of August Friendship Fire Company of Mount Joy responded to the following calls: On August 2, an automa- tic alarm at AMP on Route 230; On August 9, a stove fire on North Barbara Street; On August 14, a car fire at the VFW; On Aug. 16, an automatic alarm at National Standard; On Aug. 22, a vehicle rescue at E. Main and Marietta Ave.; On Aug. 25, an electrical fire at the American Legion, caused by lightning; On Aug. 30, a rescue at Fire Co. month of It looks like a snake, rescue Sico garage of a man pinned under a tractor. Friendship will have an Open House at the Fire Hall on October 13 from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Mount Joy Welcome Wagon to meet Sep. 19 The first meeting of the Mount Joy Welcome Wagon will be held on Wednesday, September 19th at the Tropical Treat Restaurant at 6:30PM. The menu selection will be stuffed chicken breast or ham. Mrs. Gloria Althouse, of Manheim, will present a lecture and demonstration of gift wrapping techniques. She uses scraps and odds and ends of various materials to cover boxes and containers. She is the mother of two children and 3 grandchildren. This year she has spoken to numerous women's clubs. Crafts, oil painting, and ceramics are her hobbies. The first visit to Shock Home will be on Tuesday, September 25th at 1:30 PM. Beginning in October, we will visit the Home on Tuesday afternoons the 2nd week of the month and on Thursday mornings the 4th week of the month. The raffle for the $50 gift certificate from Watt and Cub Pack Shand will be held at the November meeting. The proceeeds from the raffle will be used for community service projects. Tickets available from Welcome Wagon members. The first social of the year will be held on September 29th. It will be a bowling party at Clearview Lanes with refreshments afterward at the Watering Trough. Lunch Bunch will be held at Three Center Square in Maytown. We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member, Sherri Lantz of Ferndale Rd. We are very sorry to be losing one of our hostesses. Pat Burton will be resigning September 27th. They are planning a move to their home state of Delaware.
