4 WP September 12, 1979 DID YOU HEAR Senior Airman Richard L. Daveler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Daveler of R1, Marietta, Pa., has arrived for duty at Andrews Air Force Base. Airman Daveler, electric power line specialist, was previously assigned to Dover Air Force Base, Del. He is now serving with a unit of the Military Airlift Command. Airman Daveler is a 1975 graduate of Donegal High School, Mount Joy. §8§ Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Haas, of 204 Biddle Street, Marietta, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last week. The couple was married by the late Rev. Verley L. Fulmer on September 4, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church. Zerphey by Cherie Dillow This past weekend Winfield Zerphey was treat- ed to two surprise birthday parties on his 75th birthday. On Friday, September 7th, his son, Victor, hosted a picnic celebration for his father and his sisters and brothers and their families. In attendance were Peggy Bridgett, Grayhill to judge Jr. Miss Two Mt. Joy residents, Romayne Bridgett and Gary W. Graybill will be judges for the Lancaster County Junior Miss Pageait to be held Saturday evening at Hempfield, September 15th. Romayne is very well known throughout the area for her singing career. Recently a story of her full and active life appeared in the Susquehanna Times. We have all enjoyed reading about her illustrious career through the years. Gary is also well-known for his interest in beauty pageants. It was Gary who organized the Miss Donegal Area Pageant, formerly ‘the Miss Mount Joy Pageant. Only contestants from Mount Joy were eligible before Gary re-organized it. Now, due to Gary's fine efforts all eligible students and graduates from Donegal High School and elsewhere living in the Marietta, Maytown and Mount Joy areas are able to enter the Donegal Area Pageant and vie for scholarships to further their education. Gary is also assistant producer of the Lancaster County Scholarship Pa- geant. get the Ben Dillow family arrived at the Meckleys’, the guests were treated to a front yard seat parade with fire trucks too numerous to count. Although everyone knew and understood that this was not anything the Meckleys had control over, it just went to show the kind Brown, Rosine Farmer, Betsy Ober, and Win Jr. and their families. Mr. Zerphey is a life-long resident of Mount Joy. He and his wife Dorothy reside at 160 Manheim Street, Mount Joy. They have eleven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
