Mount Joy Jaycees sponsor swimming lessons The Mount Joy Jaycees in cooperation with the Mount Joy Lions Club Pool, are offering beginner’s swim- ming lessons for non-swim- mers of the Mount Joy area. The lessons will be open to children ages 5-9. The cost, $4 per child, is payable the first day of lessons. Dates of the lessons are August 13-17 and 20-22. Rain dates are August 23, 24,27, and 28. The lessons will be held 11-noon each day. To register your child, call the pool at 653-1101 any day between noon and dusk. Benjamin Dillow, Don- gal Springs Road, Mount Joy, has been invited to submit his biography for inclusion in the new edition of “Who's Who in the East.” Dillow is employee relat- ions manager at Howmet Aluminum Corporation, Mill Products Division. At How- met Dillow instituted a program to counsel employ- ees with personal problems related to alcohol, marriage, drugs, and other problems. Dillow was a leader of seminars for the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. He has served as presi- dent of the Lancaster County Personnel Associat- ion, and has held offices with the Lancaster County Committee for the Employ- ment of the Handicapped. He is also active in the Lancaster Association of Commerce and Indsutry. Bonnie Gutshall weds James Leas The marriage of Miss Bonnie Elizabeth Gutshalli to James O. Leas took place August 4, 11AM. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, with the Rev. Roger D. Colvin officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Gutshall, Bainbridge. She graduated from Elizabeth- town High School and is employed by Wyeth Labor- atories, Marietta. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Leas, R1, Marietta. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School and served six years in the US.Navy. He is employed by ITT Grinnell Corp., Columbia. Miss Donna M. Bowles, Bainbridge, was maid of honor. Mrs. Kathy Schatz, Bainbridge, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were sisters of the bride: Barbara J. Gutshall and Mrs. Pam Nye, both of Bainbridge, and Mrs. Jamie Sine, Rl, * Bainbridge. Flower girl was Nacole E. Nye, Bainbridge and Joshua K. Schatz, Bainbridge, was ringbearer. Serving as best man was Kenneth Leas, brother of the bridegroom, R1, Mari- etta. Awards for Marietta playground presented Awards were presented on the final day of supervised playground acti- vities at Marietta War Memorial Park, Friday. Special appreciation gifts were given by the staff, Janice Wise and Joanne Pittenturf, to Ida Hender- son, Marty Edmond and Antoinette Allum. Three youths who assisted with the program received T shirts as recognition: Tom McKain, Steve Shireman, and Dean Porter. Perfect attendance was won by Matt Wise and Tom McKain while regular at- tendance recognition was paid to Mark Spickler, Bryon Edmond, Donna Mauss, Christine Nein, David Turck, Steve Shire- man, Clara Zink, Anna and Jody Serstler. The Disco King was Mike Rules posted in Mount Joy parks Rules for Mount Joy Borough parks have been posted on signs in the parks. The rules are as follows: The parks will be open from dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted or permis- sion is granted by borough council. The speed limit in parks is 1S m.p.h., parking is to be done only in designated areas, driving is to be done only on roadways or designated areas. Repairs to vehicles may be done in the parks only in emergency circumstances and there is to be no vehicle washing or waxing. Bicycles must be kept out of marked areas. No intoxicating beverages are allowed in the park nor people under the influence of intoxicating beverages. Animals must be kept on a leash no longer than four feet and the person with the animal must clean up after the animal. Brown, pool helpers were Cheryl Smith and Donna Mauss, gopher was Eliza- beth Zuch, Shopkeeper was Christine Nye, most acci- dent prone was Missy Turck and temper holder was Greg Mertin. There were 189 children registered for the six week period with a daily average of 60. There were 84 persons who participated in the free swims with 62 signed up for swimming lessons. Sponsored by the Mari- etta Recreation Association, the supervised playground carried thru a theme with sports, music, education, circus, holiday, arts and crafts, and finally park & equipment clean-up. The staff wishes to thank all adult participants who helped in any way to make the program a success. Gambling is not allowed in the park unless otherwise specified by the borough council. Fires are not permitted except in those areas designed for that purpose. No person is to injure, deface, remove or cut or damage any natural plant- ings or any structures or materials at the park. No unauthorized person is permitted to carry, have or discharge firearms, bow and arrows, air or spring rifles, slings or any other weapon. No person is to use profane language or conduct themselves in a lewd, immoral or commonly ob- jectional manner. No person is to set up any concession stand without written permission from council. Athletic games and acti- vities are to be confined to designated areas. Golfing is prohibited on all park grounds.
