Strawberry Festival The traditional Straw- berry Festival, sponsored by the Men’s Association of historic Donegal Presbyter- ian Church, Mount Joy RD1, will be held Saturday, June 9, from 3 to 8 PM in the church grove. Homemade ice cream, strawberries, cake and beverage will be offered. Also available at additional cost will be homemade bread, sandwiches, coffee, chips and beverage. Several hundred quarts of Lancaster-grown berries will be picked by church volun- teers. Proceeds from the festival help fund a variety of church projects. Brandt on TMI water committee Ken Brandt, our repre- sentative in the state legislature, has been named to chair a subcommittee of the state House Select Committee investigating the TMI incident’ and the looming disposal of radio- active waste. Brandt’s subcommittee will obtain expert testimony on the proposed waste disposal. Brandt has pro- mised to keep everyone informed of information his committee finds out. Brandt is opposed to any immediate release of water from TMI Unit 2. Tree planting Farmers First Bank got a new tree last week. Members of Brownie Troop 34, which is sponsor- ed by Farmers First, planted a sweet gum in the parking lot of the bank as a gesture of gratitude. “The tree planting was the ".troop’s final .event of the year. Others this year have been: camping, needlework, wild life study, crafts, theater-going, and trips. Some summer activities are also planned—swim- ming, camping and picnics.
