Page 12—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES The Donegal High School Band, composed of 127 members, will participate in the Eighth Annual Invita- tional Mexican Band Festi- val to be held in Mexico City, April 20-24, 1979. The Band will leave for Mexico City from JFK Airport and arrive in Mexico, City at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 20. Things that the band will be doing and seeing are as follows: Tour of the pyramids(just outside of Mexico City); Tour of Mexico City; Museum of Antropology- Mexico City; The Concert Band will be evaluated by a panel of American and Mexican judges at the Conservatory of Music in Mexico City. Band off to sunny Mexico at last The Donegal High School Band in full dress and formation They will travel to Jalapa,. the capitol city of the state of Vera Cruz, on Saturday, afternoon where the march- ing band will present a field show as part of the pageant for the crowning of the queen of the State of Vera Cruz. This event is similar to a state fair in the United States. The band will perform for an expected crowd of 50,000 people. While in Vera Cruz they will see the Folklore Ballet perform the dances of the various states of Mexico. The band is also expected to perform a few other short concerts at various locations in Mexico City and Jalapa. One is at Zocola Square which is the location of the presidential offices. The Donegal High School Band received the invitation to attend the Mexican Band Festival at the end of last year. Since then the band has been working hard to raise the money needed for the trip. Projects such as hoagie and placemat sales, and paper drives were done to raise the needed funds. Local merchants also do- nated items in another fund April 18, 1979 raising project which was very successful. The band would like to thank everyone who helped with any aspect of the trip. The Band will return to JFK Airport in New York City at 10:00 PM April 24, and will arrive at Donegal approximately 2:30 AM April 25. “Riverview Redskins ’’ T-shirt sale at Marietta elementary school Fs BEFORE: Riverview principal John Sauder is presented with a ‘‘Riverview Redskins’’ T-shirt by student Leonora Allum. The shirts are being sold by the Riverview parent-teacher organization, PACT, to raise money. AFTER: Mr. Sauder immediately donned his new T-shirt. In all, 260 shirts have been sold, raising a profit of $193.60. Today is the last day to buy them. Mrs. Riley’s 6th grade class bought lots of T-shirts, as you can see in the photo above. Mrs. Lambert was substituting for Mrs. Riley the day we shot this.
