rider. The RRTA knew that the 5
millionth person would ride on Tuesday,
so they picked a route, time, and nth
person to step off the bus. Penny won.
_ Penny (Mrs. Brian T.) Reiter began
riding three months ago when her car
broke down. It’s since been fixed, but
Yesterday Penny Reiter, 256 W.
Market St., Marietta, stepped off the
8:10 Columbia RRTA bus in Lancaster
and was handed 24 red roses and a
year's free bus riding pass by Earl
Popp and Derrick Stephenson, RRTA
Board members.
Why? Mrs. Reiter was picked as the
she had stayed with the bus because of
its convenience.
Mrs. Reiter works as an employment
interviewer for the Bureau of Employ-
ment Security in downtown Lancaster.
By the way—she was the 7th person -
to step off the bus.

It’s hello Birdie in this scene from ‘‘Bye Bye Birdie’’
coming to Donegal High this weekend [March 29-31,
8:00 PM each night]. Wayne Mylin, with the
microphone, plays Conrad Birdie; the character is a
takeoff on Elvis Presley. Wayne sings, wiggles his hips,
and acts obnoxious with great style. Becky Zimmerman,
right, plays The All-American Girl, who almost gets a
kiss from Birdie. Maxine Maxwell is holding Birdie’s
[left! and Desi Adkins.

“Bye Bye Birdie’ is quite funny in spots. Wayne
Mylin does an excellent job in the title role. Besides
hearing Wayne sing rock ’n roll, the audience will be
will see Pat Kenney throw away his camera and dance;
Deb Torres as a singing Jewish Mother; and Jacquee
Zeller dancing with a briefcase.
Tickets are three dollars at the door.
Traffic light installed on 441
The new light at Routes 441 and 743 near Marietta was put up last week, to handle
the large traffic volume from the Armstrong plants. So far, there has been only one

accident at the new light, to our knowledge.

new borough manager
‘A new borough manager
has been hired for Mount
Joy. >
He is Bruce E. Hamer.
currently the borough man-
ager of Aspinwall, PA. He
will assume his duties in
Mount Joy on April 23rd.
Hamer. 26 vears old, is a
graduate of California State
College of Pennsylvania.
He has been a borough
manager for five years.
He and his wife,
Georgina. plan to move to
Mount Joy in early April.
