World Day of Prayer service to be held on Friday, March 2nd, at 7:30 PM in Zion Lutheran Church. The church 1s off Rte. 441 on Colebrook Road. Six local will participate. Represent- ing the churches will be Mrs. C.C. Rex (United Church of Christ), Mrs. Anna Ressler (English United Presbyterian), Mrs. Earl Gorman (St. John’s Episcopal), Miss Judy Waters (Bethel A.M.E.), Miss Naomi Myers (First United Methodist), and Mrs. J.R. Baker from Zion Church. Miss Lauralee Baker and Mrs. Miriam Rudy will sing a duet. Miss Gail Houck will lead a children’s service simultaneously. World Day of Prayer is sponsored in this country by Church Women United. congregations The theme this year is spiritual growth. The ser- vice is prepared by students in the Pan-African Leadership Course for Women at Mindolo Ecu- menical Foundation, Kitwe, Zambia. The African women sent this message: ‘‘Our warm greetings to all the Christians around the world who are coming together from different places for the World Day of Prayer in 1979. We hope that the voices of women at the Pan-African Leadership Course in Mindolo can be heard in solidarity with the voices of women through- out the world as we pray together.”’ World Day of Prayer dates back to 1887. It has spread to 140 countries and 33 islands. Each year women in a different nation write the prayer service, based on Cooperative Lenten Services The first of 6 cooperative Lenten Services will be held at Glossbrenner Unit- ed Methodist Church, Mount Joy, on Sunday, March 4, at 7:30 PM. The Rev. Rodney Shearer, chaplain of Lebanon Valley College, Annville, will be the guest speaker. The series of services are sponsored by the Florin Church of the Brethren and Glossbrenner United Meth- odist Church. The combined choirs of the two churches under the direction of Mrs. Sylvia YW CA is conducting fund drive For the next two months, the Lancaster YWCA will be conducting a fund- raising campaign to collect $400,000 for some much- needed building renova- tions. Preschoolers and their parents come to the YWCA from all areas of Lancaster County for preschool pro- grams in swim, gym, and dance.
