These people were elected to two-year terms on the vestry: Leroy Bowers, John Kling, Daniel Mackinson, Eugene Marley, Robert Long, Earl Marley, Terry Shope, and Henry Snavely. Daniel Mackinson was also named the Rector’s warden for 1979. At the same meeting, committee reports were presented by Robert Long, Rector’s warden of the past year; Charlotte Meridith, secretary; Mary Portner, president of the Episcopal Church Women; Dorothy Long, director of the Parish Altar Guild; Betty Ander- son, superintendent of the Parish Church School; Mary Ann Shope, organist and choir director; and Father Red, who com- mended the vestry on the many tasks they have undertaken this year. Sauerkraut Supper At Marietta Zion U-C-C Members of the Zion United Church of Christ, 3 Waterford Avenue, Mari- etta, will sponsor their 43rd annual sauerkraut supper on Saturday, February 3rd, from 11 AM until 6 PM. The eat-in or take-out dinner will cost $3 for adults and $1.25 for children’s portions. The various people heading the benefit will be; Mrs. Marian McKain, Mrs. Jean Prescott (kitchen); Mrs. Patricia Kunkle and Mrs. Prescott (dinning room); and Mrs. Gladys Rettew (dessert table). Geib, Murphy and Horst win essay contest The Pennsylvania Amer- ican Legion sponsored a 1979 High School Essay Contest on ‘“Your Vote Is Your Voice! Why Use It?”’ Mr. James Heilig, youth activity chairman, and Mr. Henry S. McCullough, post commander of the W.S. Ebersole, Post 185, 'Amer- ican Legion, Mount Joy, presented awards to the top three essay authors in the Mount Joy Area Vocational Technical School: First Place — $50.00 to Frank H. Geib of Elizabethtown; Second Place — $30.00 to Paul S. Murphy of Mount Joy; and Third Place — $20.00 to Bev Horst of Manheim. This is an annual program offered to high school students nationwide. Frank Geib’s essay will be entered in County, State and National contests re- spectively. The winner of these respective contests receives money.
