Obituaries
JOHN S. BENDER
John S. Bender, 79,
Mount Joy R2, died unex-
pectedly Oct. 6 at Lancas-
ter General Hospital.
He was the husband of
Myrtle G. Fry Bender.
He was born in Eshcol,
Perry County, the son of
the late Levi W. and Mary
Shuman Bender.
He retired in 1964 from
the Gerberich Payne Shoe
Co. in Mount Joy. From
1936 until the present, he
owned and operated Ben-
der’s Service Station in
Milton Grove.
He was a member of the
Maytown Church of God
and a life member of the
Milton Grove Sportsman's
Association.
In addition to his wife,
he is survived by three
sons, George B., Mount
Joy R2, John S. Bender
Jr., Elizabethtown R1, and
Leroy F., Mount Joy; seven
grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a
brother, Charles Bender,
Ickesburg, and a sister,
Mrs. Amanda Myers,
Landisburg.
RALPH H. KNAUSE
Ralph H. Knause, 78, of
Columbia, died Oct. 3, at
St. Joseph Hospital.
He was the husband of
Myrtle Guest Knause,
§ Heatherbank, Columbia.
® Born in Pottstown, he was
8 a son of the late George W.
8 and Lillian Frankenberry
2 Knause. He was a retired
8 farmer in the Pottstown
area. Baptized in the
g§ Christian faith, he was a

® Masons, Pottstown.
In addition to his wife,

field, Ohio; and Mrs.

grandchildren.
HARVEY NEWCOMER
Harvey S. Newcomer, 8S,
: of Mount Joy R3, died Oct.
4, at St. Joseph Hospital
where he had been a
patient for 1S days.
Newcomer retired from
farming 20 years ago. He
; was the husband of the late
Anna B. Mummau New-
comer, who died in 1952.
He was a member of St.

Born in Rapho Township,
he was a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Amos
Newcomer.
He is survived by one
