Bender, 79, Mount Joy R2, died unex- pectedly Oct. 6 at Lancas- ter General Hospital. He was the husband of Myrtle G. Fry Bender. He was born in Eshcol, Perry County, the son of the late Levi W. and Mary Shuman Bender. He retired in 1964 from the Gerberich Payne Shoe Co. in Mount Joy. From 1936 until the present, he owned and operated Ben- der’s Service Station in Milton Grove. He was a member of the Maytown Church of God and a life member of the Milton Grove Sportsman's Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, George B., Mount Joy R2, John S. Bender Jr., Elizabethtown R1, and Leroy F., Mount Joy; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Bender, Ickesburg, and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Myers, Landisburg. RALPH H. KNAUSE Ralph H. Knause, 78, of Columbia, died Oct. 3, at St. Joseph Hospital.
