August 16, 1978 Hoffers reunited Recently the descendants of Mathias Hoffer held their SSth annual Hoffer reunion at Hoffer Park in Middletown. One Hoffer descendant, Rev. David Hoffer, came from South America to attend the event and act as guest speaker. Rev. Hoffer is a missionary in Cocha- bamba, Bolivia. Nicholette Miller official- ly welcomed the family members and Rev. Gary Eppler offered the Invoca- tion. Lolly and Holly Baker gave a musical presentation and everyone joined in games and contests. The group plans to hold another reunion in July, 1979 at Hoffer Park. Their president is Dean Hoffer; Larry Miller is first vice president; Mark Merkey is second vice president; Mrs. Clay Hoffer is secretary and Paul Hoffer is treasur- er, with Hazel Hoffer assistant treasurer. Zion Nursery School open Registrations for nursery school at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rt. 441 and Colebrook Road, RD 1, Marietta, are now being accepted. Classes for four year-old children will be held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, from 9:15 to 11:15, beginning Sept. 11. At present, there are three openings for this class. Classes for three year-old children are scheduled for each Tuesday and Thurs- day morning, 9:15 to 11:15, starting Sept. 12. Eight openings are still available for this class. Tuition for the program is due monthly, and a registration fee is required. Instructing the class will be Mrs. Cheryl K. Ronan, a state-certified teacher, and her assistant, Mrs. Jennifer Douglas. Scouts need adult volunteers Volunteers are needed for leaders, assistants, and troop committee members for Cadette, Junior and Senior Girl Scout troops in Maytown and Marietta for the fall term. School Board agenda proposed The Donegal School Board will meet on August 17, at 8:00 PM, in the district office board room. The agenda for this meet- ing is the following. Staff changes will be discussed. Permission for another “Youth For Understand- ing’’ student will be re- quested (for a girl from Germany). The district is looking for part-time as well as full -time custodial workers and attendance officers. This will be discussed. Student handbooks will be submitted from each school for approval by the board. Final approval for district pupil record policy changes will be requested. Bids for the high school roof’s replacement will be awarded. Final approvals for the junior high heating renova- tion will be discussed.
