Donegal School Board passes 3 mil increase
The Donegai School
Board adopted the 1978-79
budget with a 3 mill
increase. the 1977-78 rate
was 103 mills. The total
budget will be $4,571,431, ,
an increase of $95,043 or
2.1% over the 1977-78
budget.
Governor Shapp’s Penn-
sylvania budget for next
year does not include the
increase in Pennsylvania
subsidy the school antici-
pated for their 1978-79
budget. The Pa. Comptrol-
ler, Grover H. McLaughlin,
sent a letter to Dale
Arnold, Donegal School
Board president, commend-
ing the staff for the
excellent results attained in
the management of their
financial resources during
the 1975-76 fiscal year, and
suggested that the com-
mendation be made part of
the minutes at the June 15
board meeting.
Donegal plans to partici-
pate in the Lancaster Pa.
School Employee Service
Sub Teacher registry in
1978-79.
* Donegal will be one of
five districts planning pilot
program participation in
1978-79. (Columbia, Pe-
quea Valley, Manheim
Central and Manheim Twp
are also planning to
participate.)
The school will still
maintain its own approved
sub list, and pay subs at its
rate and terms. Lancaster
PSES will maintain a 24
hour call system, and notify
the buildings of subs
assigned daily.
Names can be added or
removed from the district
list at any time. The PSES
will keep a list of sub
assignments and rejections
in theses five districts to
reduce eligibility for unem-
ployment compensation
claims. This should reduce
costs in this area, as well
as enable schools to obtain
certificated subs in all
areas.
The board adopted the
district’s 1978-79 school
calendar with teacher in-
service day - Tuesday,
September S and student
entrance, September 6, and
closing set for June 6,
1979.
